If the environment goes, everything will go. No amount of money will save us. We must change our ways. Who will the the lead the charge and run with the message, "Get your ass moving and make the proper choices!"

We all need ……. Climate Change Reality

Its not about Climate change denial or alarmism, its about getting reality.

Look.... everyone must seek the truth and reality about climate change by doing their own research.

We have significant information integrity and corruption issues with traditional information sources, so you must look at both sides of any argument, and not accept the current group think.

My findings...

We do have ongoing climate change, but its far from an emergency.

First, there is no convincing scientific paper that shows any proven causation between Green House Gases (GHG) and global temperature change that is near any threshold of concern.

The scientific papers that state dangerous CO2 causation on global temperature use an overstated climate model that keeps being proved wrong or a rigged hockey stick or the political summary from the UN.

But there are many scientists that have demonstrated that CO2 is a small bit player in the climate system, and there are many scientific papers that declare a low threshold of concern.

See link for a recent one.

The IPCC is a political organization, and we have plenty of proof of that, and it is not to be trusted.

We must not agree to the Paris accord as its not in the national interest.

The data sources I use are always being updated, and they not only show no rampant or concerning CO2 to temperature causation, but also show no growth in environmental issues from a slightly warming planet and increasing CO2, in fact most of the change is good news.

The main issue is that the science community is divided on the facts and certainly their interpretation, and most of the science community has been subjugated by politics, and this makes any peer review process meaningless. So, we will need a much more open scientific review to get to the truth.

The other important point is that the western nations efforts to reduce CO2 with any form of mitigation and associated economic constraint on traditional fossil fuel usage is a significant danger to prosperity. It’s also extremely pointless, as the western nations will be an increasingly small player in global CO2 generation, with many of the emerging nations forced to use coal and other fossil fuels to grow their economies with few viable alternatives available.

The notion of a panic move toward wind, solar and EVs makes little sense both technologically and economically, and these solutions will create far worse environmental problems than our existing fossil fuel technologies due to the significant mining and refining of new raw materials that are already in scarce supply.

The best course of action is for the west to better use our tax dollars by avoiding any further CO2 mitigation efforts and focus on a strong adaptive capability to cope with any possible climate change. This will mean expanding the power of fossil fuels in the short term augmented with nuclear power in the longer term to ensure a safe and prosperous future for all our citizens.

I live in Southeast Texas. We’re miserable with the heat and drought. We haven’t had rain since last month. The pond in my beautiful subdivision is drying up. It’s so hot and brittle that I can’t breathe outside. There’s fires everywhere. Maui breaks my heart in a thousand pieces. We must do better. Faith with works is powerful!

What can we do to help? I think that investing in clean energy and donating to environmental organization is part of the solution, and it is something that anyone who is financially stable can do. But how? I get letters from a dozen environmental organizations - how do I choose? Or should we invest in nuclear energy - Bill Gates thinks it is feasible.

Looks like there is quite a bit of curiosity around how the fires started in the first place?

And many climate scientists that do not believe the that the "Climate Change" alarmism is relevant to this disaster, and more and more articles point to the right mix of conditions and in fact, negligence.

Most of your last post was a rehash of your opinions.

Your entitled to them but that doesn't make them facts.

Your assertion that there is no scientific consensus is your opinion but it is NOT a fact.

The 6th Great Extinction - is a fact.

Are humans causing a sixth extinction?

The study, conducted by scientists from 22 different institutions in six countries, confirmed the sixth

mass extinction. The study states that this mass extinction differs from previous ones because it is

entirely driven by human activity through changes in land use, climate, pollution, hunting, fishing

and poaching.Mar 5, 2021

Environmental Migration - is a fact

Caused by persistent drought and the impact on local agriculture and water resources. Your

statement that they would have been better off had they stayed put beside being insensitive

purposely misses the point.

Why is migration increasing?

International migration probably will increase during the next decades because migration drivers, including economic pressures, changing age structures, population growth, rapid urbanization, and environmental stress, are likely to persist and intensify.

Rapid Global Warming - is a fact.

That it is caused by CO2 and Methane related to the combustion of fossil fuels - is a fact.

It’s important to remember that scientists always focus on the evidence, not on opinions. Scientific evidence continues to show that human activities (primarily the human burning of fossil fuels) have warmed Earth’s surface and its ocean basins, which in turn have continued to impact Earth’s climate. This is based on over a century of scientific evidence forming the structural backbone of today's civilization.

Temperature data showing rapid warming in the past few decades, the latest data going up to 2022. According to NASA, 2016 and 2020 are tied for the warmest year since 1880, continuing a long-term trend of rising global temperatures. On top of that, the nine most recent years have been the hottest. Credit: NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies

NASA Global Climate Change presents the state of scientific knowledge about climate change while highlighting the role NASA plays in better understanding our home planet.

This effort includes citing multiple peer-reviewed studies from research groups across the world, 1 illustrating the accuracy and consensus of research results (in this case, the scientific consensus on climate change) consistent with NASA’s scientific research portfolio.

With that said, multiple studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals1 show that climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities. In addition, most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position.

The following is a partial list of these organizations, along with links to their published statements and a selection of related resources.

American Association for the Advancement of Science

"Based on well-established evidence, about 97% of climate scientists have concluded that human-caused climate change is happening." (2014)3

American Chemical Society

"The Earth’s climate is changing in response to increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and particulate matter in the atmosphere, largely as the result of human activities." (2016-2019)4

American Geophysical Union

"Based on extensive scientific evidence, it is extremely likely that human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse gases, are the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-20th century. There is no alterative explanation supported by convincing evidence." (2019)5

American Medical Association

"Our AMA ... supports the findings of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s fourth assessment report and concurs with the scientific consensus that the Earth is undergoing adverse global climate change and that anthropogenic contributions are significant." (2019)6

American Meteorological Society

"Research has found a human influence on the climate of the past several decades ... The IPCC (2013), USGCRP (2017), and USGCRP (2018) indicate that it is extremely likely that human influence has been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-twentieth century." (2019)7

American Physical Society

"Earth's changing climate is a critical issue and poses the risk of significant environmental, social and economic disruptions around the globe. While natural sources of climate variability are significant, multiple lines of evidence indicate that human influences have had an increasingly dominant effect on global climate warming observed since the mid-twentieth century." (2015)8

The Geological Society of America

"The Geological Society of America (GSA) concurs with assessments by the National Academies of Science (2005), the National Research Council (2011), the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC, 2013) and the U.S. Global Change Research Program (Melillo et al., 2014) that global climate has warmed in response to increasing concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases ... Human activities (mainly greenhouse-gas emissions) are the dominant cause of the rapid warming since the middle 1900s (IPCC, 2013)." (2015)9

SCIENCE ACADEMIES

International Academies: Joint Statement

"Climate change is real. There will always be uncertainty in understanding a system as complex as the world’s climate. However there is now strong evidence that significant global warming is occurring. The evidence comes from direct measurements of rising surface air temperatures and subsurface ocean temperatures and from phenomena such as increases in average global sea levels, retreating glaciers, and changes to many physical and biological systems. It is likely that most of the warming in recent decades can be attributed to human activities (IPCC 2001)." (2005, 11 international science academies)10

U.S. National Academy of Sciences

"Scientists have known for some time, from multiple lines of evidence, that humans are changing Earth’s climate, primarily through greenhouse gas emissions."11

Back when climate change was called global warming, the argument was that the globe couldn't be warming since we still had cold winters. I remember Bill O'Reilly saying (and I am paraphrasing): just because we cannot prove the science yet, doesn't mean we should continue to live like pigs.

We need to do everything within our power to move to clean and efficient energy worldwide.

Oftentimes we all are faced with difficult choices. Americans don't want the government telling them what to do, how or when to do it and especially, "why should I?" We all, to a certain degree, carry an attitude of not wanting to be the first one to accept change. It's an unspoken "maybe I will if everybody else will, but not until then." We know firsthand how perceived draconian actions have been tolerated in this country, given our shared experiences of Covid. It is still a hot button for those who wish to keep the brew bubbling. Now we face what some climate scientists and scholars have labeled as a possible sixth extinction, the Anthropocene, meaning the supposedly smartest beings on the planet, namely humankind. I will wager that given a choice between economy and ecology, the economy will reign as the winner. Every time. Such choices will be at our own peril. Much needs to be done to face these climate issues head on. Do we have a Congress that has the will and the stomach for pursuing the hard decisions that need to be made? Past experience says they do not. My hope is that I am wrong, for the sake of us all. To do nothing is, in fact, to do too much.

How true! We are in a climate crisis and our government seems to be blind to this fact. That's why I have such hope that Marianne Williamson is running as the Democratic candidate for president. She vows to declare a climate emergency on her first day as president. Check out her other strong policies at www.marianne2024.com

Prevention is always a difficult case to make. We are a reactive race. I believe two issues are at play here. People are unwilling to make even the smallest sacrifice of comfort and vanity to help mitigate our negative impacts on the environment and even those people willing to are not given the guidance, leadership and encouragement to do so because it means consuming less--reducing the use of plastics, insecticides, fungicide, increase public transportation, convert abandoned parking lots green space, reduce our use of AC. The economic engine running on consumption is not willing to slow down --even a bit-- to save the planet.

I hate to say it, but nobody wants to acknowledge the reason our planet is suffering. It's our population. We need to get people to understand that two people should only have two children--Zero Population Growth. We have simply over-populated the earth. But the religious nuts will scream, "Go forth and multiply," not realizing there were only three million people on earth then, when there is EIGHT BILLION now. I can't even get my head wrapped around that. How do we get MAGA Republicans to care?? Money?

Lahaina's devastating fire is the latest warning that we must act to save our home, Mother Earth. Each time I encounter a young person I feel compelled to apologize for my generation's failure to do better for the future of our children and grandchildren. The planet is on fire and so many of us are not paying attention. We must begin immediately to stop the climate crisis that is destroying the only planet we have to support life as we know it. We must elect better people who are willing to deal with this crisis. We must demand better journalists to report the facts so everyone understands what is at stake.

I’ve apologized to my children. I told them I had no idea the world would be like this in their lifetime. Now they have babies I don’t want to think about their future. Where I live used to be a very nice place to live. Lots of trees and Springs. Not a popular place but a very lovely place to live. New people have moved to town. They have decided we need to be a big city. They cut down the trees, widening the roads putting up big buildings. And they like to call it beautifying our county. This is the hottest summer I’ve lived through and hurricane season hasn’t kicked in and our governor does not believe in climate change. So I tell my children I love them so much, but I wish I would’ve known what life was going to be like for them.
