This quote comes to mind:

“I used to think that top environmental problems were biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and climate change.

I thought that thirty years of good science could address these problems. I was wrong.

The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed and apathy, and to deal with these we need a cultural and spiritual transformation.”

I've told my children and grandchildren anyone who will listen that the climate crisis is not "coming" it is here. The weather patterns are not a fluke, this is how it's going to be from now on. We, my generation, and those before me have allowed corrupt politicians and capitalists to destroy our planet. Willful ignorance and neglect have brought us here. The CO2 in our atmosphere will not dissipate, even if we stopped CO2 emissions entirely. Our only hope is to not make it worse. I am old, and unfortunately, I will not see any change in my lifetime. My eyes tear up when I think of what I've left to my great-grandchildren. We have an entire political party (anti-science, anti-history) that pushes willful ignorance for political gain while pocketing the 30 pieces of silver from their corporate overlords. Shame on us, Shame on us!
