Dan….firstly I would like to say that I pleased to see that your Steady audience keeps growing. Your voice is important to the country, because, as always you see things through the correct and fair lens.

Secondly, I am ever so proud to be a Manhattanite and am elated that my “neighbors” did such a fine job as jurists and voted to convict this horrible despot who is only interested in himself. However, I fear that many people are not going to take this as seriously as they should. And a lengthy drawn out appeals process could make this seem like “a democrats dream” rather than reality. I fear that too many people don’t take white collar crimes seriously, and until they see him behind bars, they will still feel he is not really a felon. I sure do hope I am wrong.

Thirdly, the Highway Men are superb. And their tribute to a small, simple life filled with love and dedication, is something we should all pay attention to. These are the “abc’s” of living.

Wonder, why should He not be jailed ? He is the former POTUS? Big Sh.. ?

All the more reason he should be behind bars. Set an example, the law is for everyone. No one is above the law. First time he is accountable, not that he is a first time offender.

Thank you

Exactly! All the more reason! He should be setting a good example for us and instead he thinks he’s too special! I’m clueless as to what’s so special about an exPresident who thinks he’s above the law just because he’s an ex president or a Candidate! It’s insulting to this country that he was ever even elected.

Unfortunately, he is not capable of setting a good example. A married man, an expectant father of a child, effing around with porn stars. Come on, he is a morally bankrupt debase person. A cheat, who made fun of physically challenged journalist. He is America’s worst.

I am not even sorry for the people who voted for him or are, god forbid, planning to vote for him.

The icing on the cake, for lack of a better phrase, are his probable veep candidates. Shame on them. Wonder if they have a conscience.

My two cents, thank you, Susie.

My guess is they won't give him jail time simply because the Secret Service protection would be a nightmare. Poor reason, but I bet it's a factor.

I'm hearing that it's being recommended that he do jail time....

Well there are plenty of guards in prisons and that’s no excuse for him to get off! At the very least he should withdraw from running for President but we all know he never will because he hasn’t an iota of integrity or honor nor does the Republican Party any more or should I call it the American National Socialist Party? Because that’s exactly what it looks like now!

I believe this was the same type of prosecution, by the same office, handled by the same judge, as the 2 Trump companies found guilty of 7 each felonies each. The public ignored it in large part because NY’s capped fine it didn’t fit the size of his supposed cheating. Also he was not held personally accountable by hiding behind his entities. Weisselberg went to Rikers for perjury & refused to point the finger at DJT. This time Weisselberg was in Rikers a 2nd time for perjury but they had David Pecker as a much more credible witness. I’d be satisfied with a short incarceration, followed by an ankle bracelet and a prison sentence over his head as he campaigns.

I’m concerned the maga infection, with an enabling SCOTUS,, don the con as a martyr or a candidate works for them.

Ex: Kansas Supreme Court declared there is no right to vote in the state constitution.

https://apnews.com/article/voting-rights-kansas-supreme-court-0a0b5eea5c57cf54a9597d8a6f8a300e

Article 5 of the Kansas Constitution: Suffrage.. ANYONE can see Section 4 in bold font the exact phrase “proof of the right to vote.”

This, IMO, is something people can understand if they hear about it. I also believe it is the core of where maga wants to go. It is also a core of the infamous Nick Fuentes plan from right after the his 2020 loss. NF says they don’t have the votes to win. They needed DJT in the WH and then dissolve Congress, no more elections etc. etc. Use the military to keep citizens in line.

I agree with your suggestion of a short time in prison and followed by an ankle bracelet.

The vindictive part of me would love to add a tall dunce cap.. for in addition to being a crook...DJT A deserves a dunce cap for bringing this on himself.

A wise man would have paid David Pecker promptly from his hamburger money. DJT proves how cheap he is by listing a measly, to him, $130,000 as a business expense.

Yes, his original plan to not pay was dumb. Everyone knows he will try it. So of course the $ was due (with some time to spare) before the election. Then he was conflicted about what to do. He didn’t want his fingerprints on the payments and he outsmarted his cheap self.

Pull the right string and the emperor has no clothes. But he and his court jesters also have no shame. I saw a clip of Mike Johnson saying they are not the chaos party. They are the party of law and order. 🙃 Not everyone agrees. https://www.ajc.com/politics/opinion-the-party-of-law-and-order-goes-all-in-for-trump/SGLAYDGPVRAHTLY4KYCFPITNDQ/

Mike Johnson is delusional! The party of law and order?? He’s delusional! So strange he calls himself a Christian what is so Christian about Mike Johnson? He’s so anxious to get rid of any program that helps people including Medicare or Social Security! What is so Christian about wanting to take away programs that help the elderly and less fortunate?

I must comment that the Faux Network or any program associated with that media platform, somehow, MUST be restricted/sequestered/censored on our public airwaves, as an entertainment-ONLY media entity. Go ahead, adhear to/stick to/promote it ONLY as entertainment; certainly not any information dissemination of socially redeeming value. (Until that time, a warning label should precede the airing of any t.v. program related to its existence, or even referencing it as a potential resource for useful ideas or information!)

Good point about Fox...entertainment only, although I confess to being a Harris Faulkner fan. And about censorship in general, why don't we hear anything on any major network from RFK Jr? I'm learning a little on Elon Musk's "X"....but you really have to look for it!

A granddaughter got me started.

Country music isn’t my favorite genre but Mr Rather is a favorite journalist/pundit. He finds interesting tidbits and this song with these artists is a true classic.

You nailed it this week Dan. I love that you share these giants of Country Music with your readers . It may not be the first choice genre of many, but this was a great selection for a reason to smile. This tune has an enduring “country” message for all readers and for our Country,

Well Dan,…you’ve done it yet again…more than a smile, just a good ol’ gut cheering, sing a long song for a start to a day… and I loved that description of “ small town “ - no bigger than a minute.. that’ll stick in my thoughts forever! But your choice of song and the more than a melody and lyrics, it just makes ya feel good! Not many musicians, have that magic, but these guys, who are/ were epic legends in their own right, were simply magic and good! Every one just singing along, feeling just right! It makes me want to kick off my vegan boots, kick back, pour a whiskey and just feel good!…I thank you for a great and wonderful choice,…it’s all steady!…have a great weekend!…🎶🎵🎶🎸🎸🎸🎸🎼🎤🥃👢💃🏼🙏🏼❤️❣️🎶😊🤠✌🏼

Me and you both in our vegan boots. I lived sixteen years in Texas and Waylon and Johnny were two of my favorite country singers. Johnny Cash because of my dad. And Waylon, well, just because of Waylon. Yes, Mr. Rather always has a way with his words and music to pick up our Spirits.

I have family near Luckenbach..a couple decades ago, we visited that side of my family and my uncle drove us thru..he said in his baratone voice with his smooth Texan accent “Well, this is Luckenbach! That’s all there is!” I don’t remember what building we stopped in front of. Thank you Mr. Rather for keeping it light, real, and interesting. I appreciate your candor and prose. Much love from Fairbanks Alaska.

Beautiful. My father turns 100 on June 15 and he and I discovered about ten years ago that we both love country music, it brings out a delightfully sappy, romantic side of him, and I get emotional and teary-eyed most times. As Reba would say to the people she coaches on The Voice, “I want to feel it in my heart. And I do, when you do.”
