So true!! I've used the Rascals' "It's a Beautiful Morning" as my wake up alarm for some time now, and it actually makes me happy to wake up instead of being frustrated by some clanging alarm. Such a nice way to start the day.
“We’re All Alone” by Boz Scaggs is my song for today.
This very same day, I received a How are You message from Dan Rather and Elliot Kirschner and it came along with this Memory online I’d love to share.
This morning at 5:16 a.m. a request from my incurably romantic David came over the air waves all the way from Perth, Australia.
I was making coffee in the kitchen and here comes Dave with his tablet and earbuds and a big grin, beckoning me to take a listen. He had sent in a surprise song request!
“This is for my friends, Dave and Linda, in New England” said the DJ and there was Boz Scaggs, 13 hours away, starting our day enfolded in this timeless ballad.
Dale James, Director, when not volunteering as a DJ on Curtain Radio in Perth, is mounting plays at The Garrick Theatre, where “Our Gang” by David Christner will premiere this coming September 2020!!
Dave has developed some wonderful international friendships and conversations with people in the theater arts across the globe without ever leaving his magical tiny studio in Rhode Island, where the light often glows deep into the night with ever new ideas. We are both in our 80’s. Our advice: Every day is a brand new day in that magic place where we are all connected.
So enjoy your music choices! Today’s choices brought wonderful memories, especially the Rascals song because for me it’s associated with coming of age on a beautiful San Francisco morning when I was a freshman in college. A great memory - thanks!
I apologize for not getting back to you when you contacted me. I just saw your message late last night. It looks like a phone number that you sent me. When is a good time to call?
Both of these songs are beautiful and uplifting. When I was in law school in the early 1980s, I participated in student-run musical productions, and I always used “Oh, What a Beautiful Morning” as my audition piece - so often that it became a running joke.
Thank you for bringing sweet memories to me today Dan and Elliot. In the late sixties, my sister and I were preteens in love with music and The Rascals was one "45" we splurged on. I vividly remember putting on that song to wake up my sleepy sister during summer vacation. I thought it would be a great way to wake up! She, not so much. As young girls growing up in the southwest, we were also smitten with riding and anything cowboy. Those were lazy, hazy days and the memories warm my heart. My sister passed away six years ago, and there are so many memories that I have that bring her close. This one, however, is the best one. Thank you!
Elliot ... Have you been hacked? Seems everyone is getting your phone number and asked to call. Would love to, but something doesn't seem right. Have a great day. Winter has returned here.
Thank you Mr.Rather for sharing these up lifting songs with us. Lately we had beautiful weather here in California. The sky is so clear, you can actually see the mountains covered with snow. I cherish every morning.
Totally agree with your post today. I am so thankful I can still find comfort and peace by the beauty in everyday, simple things from our earth. Good day to you, sir.
About two hours ago I was out taking pictures of a beautiful sunrise and then turned around and took several of the morning light bringing a glow to the little house that my wife and I have called home for the last twenty years. I don't know how life could get any better. It pleases me that you, and so many of the people commenting here, are experiencing the same thing.

Ray Charles did a fabulous cover of What A Beautiful Morning, that's available on YouTube. Thanks for your daily inspiration.
Hello Mr Kirschner,
I apologize for not getting back to you when you contacted me. I just saw your message late last night. It looks like a phone number that you sent me. When is a good time to call?
That message was from an impersonator.
Thank you! That’s bizarre.

Thank you for sharing these two songs from my childhood. I can still sing them both verbatim!
My fav post. Thank you!

Ariel, so very sorry about your experience. May you find comfort in knowing that your neighbor is at peace.

Good morning from sunny NH where it is, indeed, a beautiful day!
