Sometimes you wake up and the mood just hits you.
You look out the window, and think, “what a beautiful morning. What a beautiful day.” Depending on where you are on the planet and the time of year, the sources of beauty can be quite varied — a quiet backyard or a sweeping urban landscape, the way the sun hits the clouds or the sound of a bird chirping, fresh snow on the ground or the promise of a warm summer day.
The simple truth about our remarkable Earth is that despite its many problems, it still provides incredible beauty in infinite forms — a beauty that beckons us to leave the creature comforts of our homes and walk amongst its bounty. It’s all the more reason we must do everything in our power to protect, cherish, and heal it.
In this spirit, we have a couple of selections for you this morning that we hope will bring you a reason to smile no matter what it looks like outside your window.
Here is the classic hit, “A Beautiful Morning,” by The Rascals:
And here is the timeless opening song to the musical Oklahoma!, sung by Gordon MacRae from the 1955 film:

Thank you for the music selections you send with each uplifting story. When I look at the beauty this week I’m thinking of families everywhere and of Jimmie Carter who demonstrates peaceful dignity to all challenges. The two things contribute with our beautiful Mother Earth in such a loving way.
Not to be corny, but a beautiful post!!!! I happen to have Oh What a Beautiful Morning on a CD in my car and listen to it just about every day, often fast forwarding through other excellent Broadway songs to get to it. I live in sort of cattle country and the phrase a little brown maverick is winking her eye often makes me slow down just to check to see if any of the calves near the fences by the road are winking at me! And growing up in the 60s, the Rascals A Beautiful Morning was just one of those happy songs I loved. For me it's wonderful to belong to a group whose authors are on the same page as I am about so many things, and that remind us that in this time of hated and division the haters can't take away a lot of our beauty. Sometimes it will be something small like a flower growing up in a crack in the sidewalk that hasn't been destroyed by the smog in a city, or it can be majestic like a mountain range on a clear day, but it we look (and sometimes not too hard!) the beauty is there!!! Thanks for reminding us of this!
