My husband and I watched this last week. What a time travel trip it was! But I have to disagree about Jennings. I thought it was mean spirited of him to up and leave. It left a sour note in otherwise ultimately uplifting and fascinating documentary.

I agree, Allyson, I thought Jennngs walking out showed him to be mean spirited and small. It’s a good thing he left, it was a large- hearted, open-minded adventure and he showed himself to have neither.
Probably afraid of his ability to remember the words in Swahili, let alone sing them in front of such a gathering of greats. In my anecdotal experience, “good ole boys” don’t handle discomfort well.

I think Jennings came off as being a redneck racist! Nothing charming about his actions!
