As a combat veteran I take exception to your disgusting comments and challenge you to bring it. If I see you first then it’s on you disgusting excuse for a human being.

I'm appalled at the number of military that were involved in J6. When they joined they took an oath to protect our democracy. The action of those who participated in the attack and of those who condone it is one of the most horrifying symptoms of our political cancer. As you mentioned recent election results were somewhat reassuring but given daily news and weekly polls I'm less confident that "24 will be a peaceable transfer of power. The spector of our military (current or retired) being ion opposite sides in a very physical way is a nightmare scenario. We can hope and pray for the best but with eyes wide open we need to be prepared for alternative. I am grateful for your column, your experience, your common sense and your encouragement for us to remain steady in somewhat turbulent times.

Those are some pretty strong statements. I believe we are looking at the world from different window.

Determined men with guns, their uniforms and various machines of mass destruction emblazoned with the Nazi swastika, tried but luckily failed to kill my father and his brothers on many occasions. Millions of others, the vast majority being completely innocent civilians, were not so lucky. How someone in these modern times could support any movement sharing any of the Nazi ideals is completely beyond me, except it is clear that hatred has been intentionally and deliberately stoked. Guess how I feel about Nazis. I'd like to say it isn't hatred. It's the hatred that I hate.

My father served in the Army during WW2. He was 18 years old when he signed up and served 7 years. He fought in Europe, so served during peace time and war. Growing up I heard many of his war stories. Back then veterans did not have the physiological help they do today, but I think that his telling us about his experience did help him.

So, you just wrote a post about how some veteran's don't count as much as others? I can guarantee you that many of those Veterans of times past, were they allowed a one day reprieve to look upon us, would roll over in their graves and wonder what exactly happened to the world they meant to build.

Thank you!

Sad way to thank veterans by insulting a large cohort of veterans, two years in a row. 🥲Malicious too, tossing around a vaporous term ‘MAGA mindset’ as a derogatory label for supporters of America’s ideals. This piece turned from a sincere thank you into a divisive political subversion.

One of things that baffles me is how any veteran could vote for trump, a draft dodger and a coward, who has publicly disparaged our veterans many times. What can they be thinking?

A big non-religious "A-Men" to that. Striving to forge a more perfect union is the work of every citizen. Sadly, in recent times some have either lost their way in that pursuit or never thoroughly absorbed just what that means. There are those among us who sincerely seek to undermine the foundations of American democracy. They display artifacts such as window decals depicting tattered versions of Old Glory or Jefferson's inscription of We the People and the colonial era Gadsden flag with its bold proclamation aimed at George III and his professional soldiers. These people are cowards and traitors not patriots. Their intent is to subvert democracy and anything like an American way of life in favor of an authoritarian oligarchy such as that in place in Russia under the iron fist of The Dunceald's chum, Putin. Both old men seek to claw out a path to ultimate power in their respective realms. Both personify real and present human evil and extreme danger for humanity.

My husband is a Vietnam vet who earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He came home to be spit at by protestors at his entry airport. He couldn’t find a job because he was told that he lacked experience. It was a pretty tough time for us. But, he served because he believed in America and its people. We still do!
