Every one of these criminals belongs in prison. Peter Navarro deserves this. I’m guessing Trump will be locked up early to mid next year.

Expand full comment

Hoping for the same. But, our vaunted legal system doesn’t seem to be cooperating so much.

Expand full comment

It’s frustrating but it’s still grinding slowly against him in more ways than one. But I get what you’re saying.

Expand full comment

Even if Trump loses there will still be a great deal of work to do to bring the MAGA discontents into the unity tent. We must address the wealth and income gap or we'll be back in this partisan divide again with maybe a less unsavory contender. Joe B. has got the right idea but a federal minimum wage near the living wage will be a hard sell but completely necessary to unite the country.

Expand full comment

Happily, President Biden is doing everything he can to address those issues. “From the bottom up and the middle out.” An excellent recipe for growing a healthy economy.

Expand full comment

The sooner, the better. How many crimes must he commit before he can be imprisoned?

Expand full comment

I know apparently the current 88 or so isn’t enough

Well Mr. Dworkin, I'm in hopes your "guess" is far better than mine!

In terms of "these criminals," it galls me that the GOP advocates

denying convicted felons, who have served their time, the RIGHT TO VOTE,

BUT... no one seems to question whether they can hold a White House position!?!

Hmmmmmmm, wonder what Rod Serling would have to say about that?!?

You can call me Scott! I’m guessing Rod would say it’s a scarier episode than most lol

So long as SCOTUS is running defilade for him (elections have consequences, don't you know), Trump won't see prison unless he should lose the upcoming election (pray God). Then he won't be able to further delay the trials which will see him to his doom.

Expand full comment

I concur with you on this. He now wants SCOTUS to give him total immunity! This absurdity has me in deep concern for our democracy.

Expand full comment

It will be amusing to see the "originalist" weenies in the fanatical majority of the Robert's Kangaroo court tie themselves into knots to make up some bull-poo to justify re-writing the constitution (going DIRECTLY against the will of the founders) and turning the president into a king much like the one the founders were escaping.

Cheetolini's sad-ass argument that EVERY president would be unable to do their job for fear of blackmail, etc. if they aren't immune to everthing completely ignores 200+ years of history. Simply stop criming and there's no worry about needing immunity . . .

Expand full comment

Again, don't forget that immunity for Trump is also immunity for the President for life, Joe Biden. That will get the supremos scratching their heads.

Expand full comment

It seems to me that the former president is blackmailing all of us.

Expand full comment

Should they come down on the side of unconditional POTUS immunity, that will be the moment when we can no longer claim to be a democratic republic in spirit. If Trump manages to gain control of the Office again (note - I did NOT say "wins the election") then all bets are off. Since he's already guaranteed "bloodshed" in the streets if he loses, let's beat him to the punch (pun intended) by having Biden send Seal Team Six or some Mexican drug cartel to drag him kicking and screaming to places unknown, from which we will never see or hear from him again. Sure, there would be bloodshed, but he's already setting things up for that to happen, and least Biden wouldn't be breaking the law.

I seriously doubt the criminal Citizen Trump will ever see the inside of a jail cell. Does he deserve it? Most certainly. It’s extremely doubtful to imagine this ever happening.

Truly sad and scary times for America. And of course this is just the tip of the iceberg. Allowing Texas to round up anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant is so unAmerican, at least the America we were taught about in school. Of course we have a long long history of roudning up and lynching at will persons of color so we should not be surprised at the ok for Texas to again do this, but saddened and hopefully angered enough to worker harder to get Biden and other Democrats elected. How do the legal immigrants feel about Trump calling persons of their nationality animals , not even people. I am horrified and disgusted, but again we have a history of this, and in fact persons of color who were slaves were in fact basically counted at livestock for tax purposes. Let's all work a little harder than we thought we could to make sure American does better.

racism rears its ugly head again, just when we 'thought' we were making progress.

Yep. Scary that the not Supreme Court sided with Trump on wheels

Expand full comment

His intent is to sow chaos at the border and instill fear in the eyes of Texans (and beyond) by using all the scary words like 'invasion, gangs, hordes of criminals, drugs, sexual predators, sex trafficking' . It's all very deliberate. This state is a mess and yet, I have friends who very actively support Greg-think he's the greatest because he's brought jobs to Texas. Nope-the fact that Texas has no state income tax brought jobs here.

Expand full comment

Exactly. And lax regulations. And then regular folks get hammered with property taxes. And to top it off, Texas doesn't have term limits on governors.

Expand full comment

It's all by design, unfortunately. I will not retire here, that's for sure...

Expand full comment

You are right, but I hope now things will be a little better than during the era of slavery and the Jim Crow times. More folks, especially young folks are actually friends with persons of color and (gasp) persons of non straight sexual orientation. My kids (again, showing my age) grew up with The Fresh Prince of Belaire and the Cosby kids...I sure did not have those folks to see (and even like) on TV. And I do think it does make a difference and in many areas just the number of non white folks makes a difference in how they interact with the white majority (not so much a majority in the elementary schools in California.. I think whites there are now less than 50%). And it seems to me that the amount of interracial couples we see on TV and especially in advertisements (those Madison Avenue guys know how to read a room!) has got to be good for decreasing racism. But it is such a huge uphill battle and so many old white men are just scared to death of losing something (not quite sure what...AI and just the change int what kinds of workers are needed in the current workforce is what is taking their jobs, not like years ago when cheap immigrant/former slave labor were a threat to the manual labor needed in the factories (and seems to me few white folks are standing in line to get the low paying hard jobs our immigrants, both legal and illegal do for us like picking our crops, cleaning the bedpans in nursing homes, working in slaughter houses).

Expand full comment

Hopefully this will help young folks and people of color in Texas will start to see what's at stake when the GQP has power and will get out the vote in epic numbers, enough to overcome the gerrymandering and voter suppression endemic to Texas (and other red states).

As far as I'm concerned as a former intelligence asset/analyst, I hope the White House refuses to allow those courtesy briefings. He's a positive security risk. And there's no telling who would be in line to benefit from those briefings.

NO-ONE with his debts could even hope to be granted a security clearance.

It just keeps getting more and more bizarre that people continue to support him, despite his issues. That takes some world class level of delusion there.

As for him getting money, every dime that comes to him should immediately be scrutinized for it's source. And the motive for the "donation" should be investigated as well. It's past time to crack this egg and not worry about where the yolk runs, of who it gets on.

I so totally agree with you, thank you!!!

Trump has already been convicted of the crime of rape!! Why can't the United States of America protect its most secret briefings from being given to Trump, a convicted criminal??

Expand full comment

To give Trump access to this highly sensitive info when he's $500 million in the hole is a recipe for disaster. Who knows how many more documents he still possesses and would sell if it helps him financially? Makes no sense that this felonious shyster who has trials pending for having documents that he refused to turn over, might get a chance to do it all over again.

Expand full comment

It may take the United States army, navy, marines and air force, called upon by the People, to finally deter Trump from his criminal actions. If I were one of his better lawyers, I would plead him guilty by reason of insanity because he is clearly a psychopath.

Then the insanity plea would hopefully be the slam dunk for making him unfit and ineligible to continue running.

This is one example of how Trump has challenged our system by playing on its freedoms. He is an actual candidate of one of our two main political parties; all but officially chosen. As such, he is entitled under our system to certain protections & privileges. Can those legally be discontinued unless & until he’s convicted in the classified documents case? (Good to see that J Smith has ask for Cannon’s removal).

Whether Trump, who seems so ignorant & unthinking in so many ways, actually understands & plans such gaming of our system is a question I have. But whether he does or not, it’s very beneficial to him & his co- lawbreakers but very detrimental to our society & rule of law because it muddies the waters. It gives his backers & voters just enough seemingly legitimate claims concerning free speech, legal election strategies etc. Trump’s sociopathy & malign intentions are in effect gaslighting the entire country.

His stupidity is a derivative of his narcissism. He doesnt possess an ounce of intellectual curiosity, unless he sees or hears something about himself. He doesn't want to know how things work, and he won't allow anyone to teach him, but that doesn't mean there havent been skills he has picked up along the way, especially his ability to conceive and carry out grifts of staggering complexity, due to his tremendous talent for manipulation and especially gaslighting. This is why his cult thinks he truly is a "stable genious". Based on everything that has happened since 2016, I believe that Trump and the GOP, with the help of Putin, may have committed some crimes to get him elected. Putin had everything to gain when Hilary Clinton did not become President. She would not have put up with his bullshit. It is just odd that she won the popular vote, but Trump somehow got to be President. Ever since then, he and the GOP seem to be sleeping with the enemy, as well as the major dictators of today. The numerous criminal acts that were committed with impunity tells me that he knows his way around the legal system to get away with just about anything. He is following in his hero's footsteps. I just don't understand why our justice system has allowed things to get this far out of control. The guy says at a rally that if he doesn't win the election there's going to be a bloodbath in this country, and no one seems alarmed enough to say you're disqualified. If the justice system has so many loopholes for someone with immense wealth, some laws need to change, and NOW!

Expand full comment

re: "It is just odd that she won the popular vote, but Trump somehow got to be President."

This is not unique, and it's a problem with our 'Electoral College' that disproportionately allocates power to minority states.

We need to enact a 'popular vote' system that assures 'majority rules.'

Now at seventy-five I see the benefit of a constitutional monarchy. A Prime minister elected every four or five years to be accountable to the electorate and a monarch, with only status for power, to look at the long run.
