Dan thank you! My TV has been off since early Wednesday morning. Music has been my outlet these days to lift myself out of the sadness and anger that I feel. The results of the election were so far from the outcome I anticipated and now we need to see/hear him for 4 years and more importantly, suffer the consequences of his actions to come?

Will be researching ways for me to engage and help others…but in the meantime:

“Music is therapy. Music moves people. It connects people in ways that no other medium can. It pulls heart strings. It acts as medicine.”

@ Ellen —

You too? Not only did I ignore TV, I couldn’t focus on the current book I’m reading, nor was I interested in even calling my friends to lament this disaster. I was too weary with sadness. So I turned to my favorite albums and listened to Ravel and Chopin and oh so many other greats. Only then did my breathing become less erratic.

My thanks for your comment and the knowledge that we are not alone.

Of course, very true.

Thank you, Sir. A very happy Sunday too. This week we have all definitely been “” Played”” for sure. I can’t believe she lost all the swing states and then some. The voter’s were really smoking something these guys couldn’t figure out.

One way or the other we all have to live with it.

My two cents, thank you

It’s disinformation and blatant lies from the magas, the far right and Fox. Joyce Vance wrote about this in Civil Discourse (on Substack). I could only read the first few lines. I’m trying to have a few days tuning out.

Whatever happened is too bad too sad.

“” Buyer’s Remorse””,

Two words to remember the next 4 yrs.

Thank you

Buyer's Remorse will be the tune we hear for years after January 20, 2025. All the people who voted for him because "he loves America," all who voted for him because his economy was so great, are going to find that not only does he know nothing about how our economy actually works -- despite having a bachelors degree in economics from Wharton -- he is surrounded by people who will indulge his whims as long as it benefits them. The worst of it is that 99% of his voters are founded in lies. That's the part that's so hard for me. They believe that when Fox uses the word "news" in their channel name that it means the truth. They choose to ignore actual news because they've bought the lie that the media sources that report actual news are fake. Also, maybe, possibly, they'll learn that hugging the flag is not loving America.

I see a glimmer of hope that in two years the reality of DJT's regime will become obvious to even the densest voter and we regain control of the Senate and the House (assuming we lose it now).

The guy has no leadership qualities. Nothing but full of lies. Will run the country into a ditch with his further more tax cuts for the rich, vindictive with China, imposing tariffs and raising prices of goods here. Raising costs if services by deportation of migrants. No health care plan in mind. His vindictive instincts and nature would make him kill Obama care or restrict it.

No wonder so many of his people say he is not fit.

The only thing he can't do on his own is kill the ACA. Shockingly it seems that Moses Mike understands what a disaster that would be.

Kamala & Tim did an amazing job. Unlike the other. She did this in 100 days with Tim @ her side after the convention. Next time if she decides to run again, I too will support her . Hoping to still be here then. Let's hope for the best.

What a much-needed tonic for the shell-shocked and forlorn. I thank you so much, Mr. Rather. Your steadfastness keeps us going.

My best as ever, Anne in MD 🌻💙🙏

Look for independent journalists to come in your email. Heather Cox Richardson helps us to understand the politics in play from a historical perspective. We’ve been here before. Jay Kuo has helped me understand all of the legal stuff. I think he is a genius that knows how to speak to us in layman terms. Scott Dworkin calls out the corporate media and is assembling a team to help resist the worst of project 2025. Look in your podcasts for people like Bryan Tyler Cohen. Stay tuned. We are not going down without a fight.

Yes, Heather Cox Richardson is one of the best in the business. Her daily newsletters this week put much in perspective. I'm grieving our loss, but must believe that good will prevail over evil.

Honestly, Rajiv. I purposely took Tuesday and Wednesday off “just in case.” As it turns out, I was so upset I couldn’t control my physical reaction; I was quaking with fear and my heart pounded erratically all day (this coming from a healthy hard working woman.) I did not sleep for two days. I could not eat. I am no defeatist, however. I put on a brave front as we all should do, and will work towards the mid-terms and begin action, in my time off.

Be well, keep steady.

We all have stories, I am sure. We had an early dinner out because it was going to be a long date night with the Tv. Got a shrimp platter and a gyro platter from Costco for snacking late night. But everything turned against us.

I am reminded of dome good poetry.

“ Though outwardly a gloomy shroud.

The inner half of every cloud is bright and shining.

I turn my shroud inside out to show the lining.

Since Tuesday night I have not checked my newsfeed I refuse to see him or hear anything that has to do with him. I refuse to say his name. It is Substacks for me from now on. I just subscribed to two more. I’ve been surrounding myself with friends and music and dog walks.

Thank you for this Dan. I listened when I was walking my dog. Anything with Willie lifts my spirits . I got as far as We Are The World. Had fun trying fun trying to guess the voices without the video.

Steady indeed

What a wonderful mix of songs, Mr. Rather. As a lover of rock and roll, it's a great list. Beyonce's rendition of Blackbird, with McCartney's original music backdrop, is so lovely, but there are many favorites on my list, even some country and for sure, the Count. I had the very great honor of meeting Ella Fitzgerald at the Ravinia Music Festival in Chicago some years ago. I had seen her many times in person. I brought her a bouquet of flowers from my garden and she was very kind. As a classically trained musician I say, What a wonderful mix of songs, Mr. Rather! :). Thank you for all you do. I have been listening to your broadcasts since my youth.

Thank you so much Dan. Music keeps me going! I'd highly recommend Tom Petty's anthem to our list. It gives me resolve to face the struggle. https://www.npr.org/2019/05/08/721228788/tom-petty-i-wont-back-down-american-anthem-resolve
