So upset about all of this! There is nothing wrong with honorable jobs that are not about profit. This is going to immeasurably affect the economy. Alas, hard to fathom what havoc this is also going to wreak on our democracy, our status in the world, and our honor. I wouldn't be surprised if Europe, Canada, Latin America, and most of Asia decided to stop doing business with us. We'll be left with our new buddy, Putin. So sad.
I feed terrible for federal workers and if some took the deal to retire or grab a job in the private sector, I don’t blame them. I hope no one did it without getting full legal advice first. I’m retired now but in my career, I had to deal with federal and state agencies, as I was a state employee as well, and no one was ever rude and always extremely helpful. We were happy to be public servants and knew it was tax paying money that paid us. We were paid less than private sector, but usually it was the benefits that were better.

Trump could do the same, have Elon suggest cuts then take it to the Republican controlled Congress who is supposed to control the purse strings. Having 1 unelected official with zero oversight deciding what gets cut is a dangerous precedent
