Thank you Dan, for your words. Frightening as these days are, it is reassuring to have words of reason.

The more I hear about what Trump did the more I hope that the DoJ will step up and prosecute him. Why does he have the right to cause all this turmoil, causing FIVE unnecessary deaths and the country to be constantly on edge!!

Trump and his enablers have and always will be "a clear and present danger" to our nation and its Constitution. The hearing into the January 6th attempted coup is vital to the the safety of our Republic but only if the facts are used to hold the perpetrators and supporters accountable with appropriate punishments.

I am thankful that truth is being served regarding the January 6 attempted coup. It provides hope.

"It can get worse, a lot worse. But that might also be the path by which we get better." Thank you for these words of hope, Dan and Elliot. The current political outlook is SO frightening that we must hang onto your projected outlook.

A large chunk of American republicans were and are still mesmerized by all things Trump and MAGA, and they are not confused by the facts…in addition to the toll of vast amount of money raised by political grift…it is that large chunk of misinformed , dis informed and un- informed republicans that made Trump possible —that is the most disturbing!

I pray Trump is punished for what he’s done!

The hearing was impressive and sobering. It is hard to imagine people continuing to support Trump and Co. after listening to it. The more I reflect on both what was said and shown, the more appalled I am. I am very grateful that Pence stood his ground as he did. For this, he showed great courage in the presence of extreme danger to himself and his family. I cannot understand why it took so long for Pence and others to stand up against the big lie. I hope this comes out in the hearings. I find these televised hearings cathartic and I keep remembering they are happening because we live in a democracy and not under authoritarian rule. If enough people take that in, then perhaps good will come out of this after all. I sincerely hope so.

A sobering fact, and a question. 74,216,154 American citizens voted for Donald Trump in the 2020 Presidential election, and a sizeable number, having accepted "The Big Lie," appear to be prepared to do so should he be allowed to run for the office again. In what way(s) will Donald Trump be held accountable for the "attempted coup," and what consequences will he face? Pondering the fact and the question, my prayer is simple, "Father God, help us."

For me, the saddest and scariest part of all this is that the more horrific facts that are presented, the more the MAGAts and QAnons dig in. This seems to be the case with those who put their minds and energy into a cult-- including the fundamentalists of almost all religions. They consider all nay-sayers as liars, satanists, deep state, antifa, or whatever entity they label their perceived enemies. Find a label for the other side and push it as the cause of all the troubles among paranoid, frightened, racist, disenfranchised people. Autocratic leaders have always understood this because It works, and the numbers of "Big Lie" believers still grows. I long for the days of three news channels that had respect for both facts and viewers.

Biden has attacked us as well with the sanctions on Russia having backfired as we can witness at the gas pump and checkout line in every store. His policies are crippling us as he pretends to care then blames Putin and Republicans for all our problems. Now he’s begging the Saudis for more oil while they’re waging genocide in Yemen with our help. Insanity. I’m no fan of Trump (voted for Biden) and agree that Jan 6th was awful but let’s look at the big picture here and be honest. If we continue to put these criminals from either major party in office we will be done for. Reporting on Jan. 6th is a distraction and such an obvious play to divide us. How about some real journalism Dan? Where’s the post on Assange? Or the outrage that we have sent a total of $55 billion to Ukraine that could have helped relieve some suffering here in our own country instead of being funneled to weapons manufacturers through this proxy war? SMH. See Matt Taibbi, Richard Medhurst, Aaron Mate or Max Blumenthal for some serious reporting on serious issues.

As former Judge Luttig said, “Today, almost two years [sic] after that fateful day in January 2021, and still Donald Trump and his allies and supporters are a clear and present danger to American democracy. That’s not because of what happened on January 6. It’s because, to this very day, the former president, his allies and supporters pledge that in the presidential election of 2024, if the former president or his anointed successor is the Republican party candidate and were to lose that election, that they would attempt to overturn that 2024 election in the same way they attempted to overturn the 2020 election.”

The above statement should not be a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention over the last 6+ month. However, I do not believe that this has truly sunk in with the American public and certainly not our legislators.

Now Pence. Many people have been praising Pence for what he did, or I should say did not do, on Jan 6. In my opinion, Pence does not deserve any praise. The reason trump picked Pence as his VP in the first place was/is because Trump knew/knows Pence is spineless and expected him to do his bidding, which he did every single day except Jan. 6, 2021.

I watched the third day live. It was riveting.

Judge Luttig was unequivocal in his belief that the threat was current and continuing. He spoke in a measured, almost throat constricted manner, from fear? Loathing? Or both. I left with the sense that his very life could be threatened for for speaking his truth.

The evidence is so overwhelming about Trump, it's really shocking. I have lost respect for Republicans in Congress who helped Trump plan and organize this insurrection at the Capitol. It's a disgrace to this country. The oath that they took, to protect the constitution and our democracy, vanished in there minds. Their obsession with power to control this country, and to attempt steal this legitimate election, is frightening.

Ginni Thomas has no credibility. She was involved in the insurrection. All the justice's

Voted yes to submit Trump's records, except for justice Thomas who voted no. It should of been a red flag!

At the bottom of all the years of his administration, and continuing after Election Day and through the coup attempt and still more thereafter, we have been faced with a man who simply is incapable of admitting defeat; incapable of believing he cannot have whatever he wants. Mary Trump gave us insights in how he came to be that way ... but there seems no way to respond other than to shudder.
