Such a great rendition of a song that too often gets mangled by screechers with none of the nuance or harmonics that the Chicks showed. I thought it was a convention highlight. Thanks, Dan.
It sure does. It’s tough to sing and too many forge ahead without mastering it. That makes their a cappella refreshing rendition all the more precious. 😊
I loved their rendition! It is was refreshing. So is hearing it again. They have a way of meeting the moment.
I also remember how they were banned, threatened and generally abused for speaking out. We see today the mentality of attacking messengers to silence dissent and attacking successful women never diminished.
Every once in a while I play that old CD “Not ready to make nice” - a different kind of anthem.
Not to mention their steadfast nature in an industry that didn't mind taking down one of its own with a viciousness that was much louder than the original actions.
Yeah. That’s such an awesome, powerful song. I never really thought about it - how as women we are supposed to “hush” and make nice - until that song, that moment in time. How is it possible that we are still hearing that in 2024? It’s nuts.
I love the music of the Chicks and for their integrity and principled stands. Their music is at the top of my traveling playlist and the music and their voices are off the charts!
Harmonies to equal CSNY and Simon & Garfunkel. Just beautiful. The way they sang our National Anthem combined with the entire convention renewed my spirit and my pride in being an American.
It’s about time the Democrats asserted their patriotism, and showed that this is not a partisan issue. We all love this country, only some of us strive a little harder to make it a better place for all.
The Chicks are wonderful and have been all along. I enjoyed both cuts so much as they are just the best. I agree the second Chicks cut reminded me vividly when my sons struck out on their own. The emptiness of the house...... The first cut sequed into James Taylor at the convention and WOW he was great too. THANK YOU AGAIN DAN for your spot on taste in music and through that showing what we are missing as we are all one nation and their music brings that to me so vividly. ..........
TY Dan. I loved the Dixie Chicks back in the day too. And they were still terrific at the DNC. Texas has incubated many really great musicians over the years. I can think of not many who are full bore MAGA.
I recently discovered Keb' Mo's Put A Woman In Charge (feat. Rosanne Cash) and it seems to be trending again on Youtube. Another lovely and powerful song that you might want to consider.
Uhhhhh, that was amazing. Simply perfect. Thanks for letting us know about this one. It’s on the playlist, too. Here’s a link for anyone else easily influenced by the brilliant minds of Steady:
Thanks for giving kudos to The Chicks. They were right about Bush and his wars. Seldom is the truth applauded in this twisted world.
So many of us were right about W/Dickie. So glad they spoke out.

Agree completely!!
A singer's nightmare!
ChiX nailed it...
For sure. So difficult to sing.

Thanks for the reminder. 👏🏻
Their harmonies are just gorgeous! What a wonderful Sunday smile. Thanks

Repubs tainted it but it has been reclaimed
Perfect choice Dan‼️
3 words: They. Were. Fabulous.
Thanks Dan!
Perfection! I appreciate they changed some of the notes because it made me pay closer attention.
I’m a low brass musician; I swear they used part of what I play below the melody as an almost descant part. Very nicely done!

James Taylor at the DNC? So good. So so good. 💜🎶🇺🇸

Thank you. I needed that.
I’d smile for less and that was so much more.
WOWZA
Great to wake up to. Many, many thanks for improving my life. Happy September, looking forward to a better October and a spectacular November :D
I too need those wide open spaces. Thanks for reminding me.
Wonderful; thank you!
