Couldn’t help but think about what us going on in Ukraine and how this music might soothe those still remaining there.

Beautiful

Life is filled with bad and good news each day. The trick is to find the balance so we aren't overwhelmed with either. Your choice of this piece of music strikes the balance if only for 5 minutes. Music is healing.

Immerse yourself in the arts each day and give your soul some peace even when the world around you is in chaos. I had a art history teacher tell our class that when she felt down, she turned to the painter, John Henry Twachtman to spend time with his paintings.

As the conflict continues in Ukraine and my heart hurts for their suffering, I need release and remember my art teacher's comment. Each day, I immerse myself in the arts for awhile to gain balance. Give your souls a little rest and peace each day, so that you can move forward to be a helper in the world.

I can't sing a lick and I just love all the artists that are showcased in these Saturday Smiles....the variety of beautiful voices from persons of different nationalities, different colors, different areas in the world is so uplifting for me! I don't know why I would not try to look up such performers on my own, but I don't, so I have a great appreciation for these Saturday smiles!

The Vivaldi rendition was beautiful, although a bit haunting. I wish the people of Ukraine could take a 5 minute “time-out” to listen to beautiful, calming music. But, that won’t happen.

There is one thing about the death & destruction raining down on Ukraine that gives me hope. It’s the support from around the world for the Ukrainian people. Last night I saw video of thousands of people in Prague gathered outside of govt buildings lit up with the colors of the Ukraine flag, as they watched a speech given by President Zelenskyy.

I never thought I would witness such an enormous display, literally around the world in support of peace and democracy. It’s phenomenal! From Texas, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, Melbourne, Berlin, Bangkok, Mexico City, Sydney, Liverpool, Madrid, Lisbon, Brussels, Prague, Istanbul and more cities than I can name here, people spontaneously demonstrated their solidarity with Ukraine and their horror at Putin’s war.

War should be obsolete. Anyone who wages war should be immediately sanctioned by the rest of the world, which is, to my surprise, exactly what happened.

Although Putin isn’t likely to stop destroying Ukraine any time soon, he’s way out of step with the rest of the world and that should be obvious to him. As many commenters & analysts have said, Putin’s in a pickle. He’s boxed himself in to a course of action that’s manifestly evil. How it will all play out is anyone’s guess. Regardless, we should hold on to the hope that there CAN be peace on earth.
