Children are our future. People need to be investing more in them and not considering them a burden to society. The elderly will die off and children need to be taking their places.

A long time ago I taught in San Francisco. I still remember my students with love and joy. Later I taught in Oakland. Same memories. You made me cry with this beautiful piece about your daughter. Thank you.

This is a wonderful story, and I relate to it so much right now. My "babies" just graduated from high school last Friday, the day before you posted this. We went through graduation with my twins' older brother two years ago, at the end of the Covid era, and were thrilled to be able to have it in person. There was no question about this one, but it was also the last, and with two to celebrate I felt the endings even more strongly. We spent the past 15 years heading to school events in the same small area as the elementary/intermediate school and high school are right across the road from each other. Who knows when, or if, we'll return to those halls? But I am so proud of all three of my children, of the people they have grown into and the wonderful friends they've made who are all open to diversity in all forms. I look forward to continuing to see them all develop. I wish you and your family well, and many more years of firsts and lasts.

Thank you for sharing these lovely moments with your daughter. Dan, thank you for initiating the "smile" entries weekly. I do smile and sometimes shed a tear. I have faith in the upcoming generations, as well as faith in my daughters' generation. Both of them work in positions that allow them the opportunity to make the world a better place. One is an interventional reading teacher in an underserved urban community and the other is a marine biologist. It pains me to know that the world that I am leaving them is so diminished by the power hungry and money hungry "public servants" in the US Senate and House of Representatives and in other nations who latched on to the "populist movement". I won't be here to see the accomplishments of these younger generations. For now, my advice for this intermission between sanity and lunacy is that all we have to fight with is our vote and I do hope that in the future the vote will not be used to deprive some people of their right to a voice in our government.

Wonderful story. I wish more people would focus on respect and appreciation for each other. And I am always happy to hear about people who are as proof of their children as I am of mine.

Thank you Elliot, we need to hear more about hope in future generations. That particular song should be taken to heart by more parents it's their responsibility to guide their children and not necessarily rely solely on the schools plus trying to balance out everything in between. It is not simple and easy and I don't believe it should be.

Rather respectfully want the philosophy or tenets to add thus that was intense read, type to then retrieve. Have send you a bill, not to disrespect the import that goes beyond. Having decades of hours just cus to apply? Songs l loved, yet romantic as song sung on stage of "The falling Leaves." Was earlier life lockdown, import of setting of consistency and opposite. Was hooked on songs that record almost broke one would think. No not from the basis? Not to note of never have lived such a life, yet bring up with an application for strident backstop for strict.
