I consider Mr. McConnell to be the worst thing that's happened to our nation in a very long, long, time. Including 9/11 and POTUS 45, and even Covid. His legacy of damage to this nation will persist for far too long.
My message to him would be that snowflakes become glaciers. Glaciers level mountains. And not even global warming will ever get rid of them all.
Sadly, as a Republican (in the traditional sense, not the Trump sense), I view Senator McConnell in an almost salvific light - to the best of my knowledge, he's the most powerful figure in the GOP to actually stand up to Trump, so how can i not find him (McConnell) to be at least mildly likeable? I refrained from voting in 2016, then again in 2020, simply because I honestly & genuinely see Trump as one of the greatest threats this nation has faced since the British in the 18th Century.
With that being said, why is it that politics seem to transform people on both sides of the aisle - often smart, thoughtful, individuals - into myopic hypocrites incapable of being honest with themselves? As terrible as Trump was, is the fact that Biden isn't Trump reason enough to let him slide? Most of the rhetoric i see on here is eerily reminiscent of the rhetoric i see on Fox News - less vile, but equally as narrow-minded. Is a lie - not the political fibbing we hear daily, but an outright lie that endangers people - acceptable or forgivable because it's coming from the mouth of a politician aligned with your party?
This is where the news media - including you, Mr. Rather - SHOULD step in. If the ultimate goal is the betterment of society, then please explain to me what the Biden administration has done over the past 9 months to give Americans (or Europeans....or Australians....or Africans...or Asians....) even the slightest indication that that's the direction we're headed in? Why, Mr. Rather, have i seen nothing more than tepid criticism coming from Steady regarding the humanitarian & diplomatic crises spawned by this administration? Why is it ok for the current President of the United States to stand in front of the nation and, based on a single still photograph, act "outraged" at the inhumane and "racist" methods of our border patrol agents that were shown to be anything but? Then after a full day goes by, double down on that claim? The damage was already done as media outlets jumped on the "racism" narrative, threw facts aside, and showed not a single shred of that stuff....uhh....whats it called? Accountability? Journalistic integrity? Interchangeable for the sake of my example, but i digress....even now after a month, Google "border patrol agents whipping lie" and literally 5...yup, just 5....articles come up. It's more than the 0 news outlets that issued a correction or apology, but again i digress....
The line of thinking is usually simple - the more informed a person is, the better judgement they'll show....so how do we as a country - and as individuals, for that matter - survive if all we're ever getting is 50% of the facts?
first, it's high time Schumer grew a pair and stood up to the idiots on the other side of the aisle. It's just a shame it has taken him this long to do this. Now, if they would just do away with the filibuster, and get things going, we would be a lot better off in this country.
Now the joker wants to control the tongues of the other party members. Finally Schumer does it and the Mr. Predictable draws the whip. Petulant Evil prevails.
This "drama" has been going on since 1995 and the only way I'll be interested is if Biden cuts off Congressional pay. Long conversation with the next generation on legacy today. McConnell, Manchin, et al really have no legacy to worry about because no one can remember Congressional players for longer than 15 years. Therefore, they are focused on what they can get in the near term. There is a difference between public service and craven self-interest.
The upcoming election in 2022 will determine America's fate. I do hope that decency prevails. But I will not bet on it quite yet. I will hold steady and do my best to see the glass half full. It is the only rational choice for me now.
I’m a news Hound!🎉👍 Since Cronkite, Huntley/Brinkley, Rather, Chancelor, I’ve trusted I would get information to help me understand the world I lived in. Today, the media I trusted has become the 🤡P. I.S.🤡 media🤡. These talking head🤡 use words & pictures to get my attention. One example! Lester Holt on NBC said & showed the word “ economic setback” to describe the jobs report that didn’t match the prediction. So, how is a prediction vs the actual numbers result in a setback? NONE!😡. The corporate media wants us to blame just FOX or other nut fringe media for not telling the truth but All media is at fault because $ win over truth. 😡🗡⚔️
And those who respect honesty. The delusional right has me terrified. They are like abusive parents. Never can or will be honest.

McConnell is the second worst thing to happen to America, after trump.
Well said by all
Perfect response.
Nailed it again Dan! Don’t stop!
Thank you your informative words on “Spare Me.” Our country need to get away from the Republican grip on politics in DC.

angst and antics continue with the joker in the mirror, "snowflakes" for certain, Mitch the Bitch!

I like the way you rant.

Sounds like someone needs to take his toys and GO HOME. That would be a big improvement in the Senate.
