As I look to 8 November, I wonder if it's gotten bad enough that Democrats and their allies will vote in sufficient numbers to preserve democracy. Or does it need to get worse for this to happen? I also wonder if state Republicans will tamper with election results when Democrats win. Is democracy sufficiently protected to protect the will of the people who vote? I have yet a third wonder, if we are so deeply divided between two views of reality, one of which is patently false as well as dangerous, that we cannot find a way to enter into some sort of Camp David Accords. Are we already and permanently two nations with two disparate world views?
