Sen. Ron Wyden announced that he will be hosting an “open-to-all town hall” on Tuesday, instead of attending Trump’s rant in front of a joint session of Congress. Wyden said: “If you’re looking for something to do … besides watching Trump lie for two hours, all are welcome to tune in.”
Dan . . . your essay prompted me to put on the duet of Sara Barielles and John Legend’s duet of A Safe Place To Land which came out during the first Trump term and CoVID. Ever since it has been one of my go to tracks in these uncertain times.
The special is fantastic! Sara is a favorite, so I watched when it was first on PBS. I encourage everyone to watch. I love that you highlighted her! I'm so sad about what's happening to the Kennedy Center.
The Kennedy Center is a gem. Has been for 60 years. And then someone like Trump comes along and ruins a remarkable institution with his sick and bigoted beliefs. But your choice for this week’s “A reason to smile” is a treasure. Let’s hope the treasures in our society go on forever and that the current pols in Washington are very, very, very short lived.
Sara's rendition of Elton's classic is awesome. Thank you for sharing it with us. I have so many wonderful memories of events I have seen at the Kennedy Center. I hope that it makes it through the next four years intact.
Good Day? I wonder if Brian Glenn: will ever ask an official representative from the Middle East if they ever wear SUITS Instead Of SHEETS?!!!! And then proceed to attempt to belittle that person for NOT Wearing A Suit?? What the world witnessed that day, exceeds anything ever done, even in War Time. Even when Hitler was Lying to someone's face, he projected as being a Gentleman. Something that "Glenn" has no conception of. So We Actually DO have a Vice President! Not Musk! Obviously he, the VP, learned his manners from "BUTCH" from the Little Rascals TV Show.
I just watched this this morning. After reading what has become a typical digest of disturbing and disgraceful news from Washington, it reminded me that some people and some parts of our nation are not a shameful mess.
Censorship? Similar to demonstrating on a college campus and facing jail? Unconstitutional?? Oh my. Where are we going?
Thank you. We need the beauty of Sara Bareilles’s voice in this dark moment.

Thank you Mr. Rather (and your Steady team). That was a wonderful reason to smile today, in the midst of all the bad news.
Thank you for sharingI saw Hamilton at the Kennedy Center in the very last row! It was amazing!
I can’t wait to listen to Sara Bareilles’ concert tomorrow.

Sad to think the Center faces censorship.
