Ron Klain, White House Chief of Staff

“We now have a presidency where the president has delivered the largest economic recovery plan since ROOSEVELT, the largest infrastructure plan since EISENHOWER, the most judges confirmed since KENNEDY, the second largest health care bill since JOHNSON and the largest climate change bill in history. … The first time we've done gun control since President CLINTON was here, the first time ever an African American woman has been put on the U.S. Supreme Court. … I think it’s a record to take to the American people.”

I am not certain the Dems were in as much trouble as has been reported. From little corner of the world it appeared to me the media has been crafting a circular narrative the country was in deep trouble and the Dems were to blame. They continuously spun this cycle, building on previous reporting to shape public perception. America lost the value of the press when news organizations became profit centers.

I have been bracing for the coming fascism that can be staved off for another two years if the Democrats hold one or both houses of congress.

But if we win I still fear the violence of the displeased MAGA.

I am prepared for anything.

The Democrats need to get better at getting their message out. A lot better.

Every Senator, every Rep, needs to use their social media to the max; every Tv channel ( esp Fox) , every newspaper possible, needs bullet points and concise, short messages of all the good things this administration has accomplished.

They need to run this not just in the Blue States, but also in the Red States. There are many Independents looking for concrete evidence of things being better, along w disgruntled, moderate republicans.

They need to emphasize republicans as the “Party of Wont”and Dems as the “Party of Can Do. “

They need to contrast the Senate votes on “ yes” by the Dems and the “no’s” for the Republicans.

They need to call out the republicans who vote against a bill, then try and claim credit for it passing.

Stress that the Democratic candidates work for for Americans, while the republicans work

for Big Pharma, the NRA, and those in the top 1%.

Did McConnell awake from a long sleep? He's talking "quality" with such as Marjorie Taylor Greene, Boebert, etc, representing the GOP? Has he forgotten how McCain sold his integrity for a mess of Palin?

I now often wish I had a legitimate choice between a Republican candidate and a Democrat candidate for any election. At my age I have witnessed the Republican party rapidly degenerate into candidates I now automatically dismiss due to their party affiliation. And even as I observed it happening, I could never understand how most people I know (and knew) vote for a current Republican now sitting in either the House or Senate in either local or national elections. How does anyone who lives on the current entry level wage ever vote for any Republican candidate! How does anyone who needs healthcare insurance with reasonable drug prices ever vote for any Republican candidate? I could go on ad nauseum in this vein. How does any non-college educated white male think any current Republican politician would have their interests in mind? Many years ago I saw some research into how people vote. It showed that most people chose based on name recognition not any thing else. We have long needed term limits for our elected politicians and Supreme Court to prevent what is happening now. Trump should never have been considered a legitimate candidate for any elected office based on his history.

I am with Squatty. This is not the moment to rest on our laurels - there are none until the day after the election. We cannot allow ourselves to think this election is in the bag; nothing is promised, nothing guaranteed. Every news cycle brings with it unforeseen turmoil and even though the signs are encouraging, there is still much work to be done to get us across the finish line....don't take your eyes off the prize.

First and foremost, I need to say to you that no matter what the various polls say, President Biden does NOT have low approval ratings. He is one of the best Presidents we've had, period! Secondly, the mainstream average Republican today is in the same frame of mind as they were in 1932. They're sick with embarrassment at Trump, his Maga Boys, Mitch Mconnell and his drooly-mouthed sycophants like Lindsey Graham, and his Bully boys and girls like Ted Cruz and Marjory Taylor Smith. The average Christian Republican is also embarrassed to death by the "National Christians aka Nat-Cs). There are millions of Independent and various splinter Conservative voters who are equally disillusioned, though silent. This State has an over-abundance of "Conservative" Democrats, but I'm thinking they'll break the mold this year and next year, and vote for as many Democratic candidates as we can scrape up. Hopefully, we'll come up with another Frank Church and/or Cecil Andrus. Blessed Be.

As you suggest this is a national election for the control of the houses of Congress. If voters knew the power of the majority (determine which bills are put forth, chairs of committees, which oversight and investigation, what judges get appointed, and more) they would think twice about voting for any Republican as that will bring the Monster Congress closer to the majority and put in positions of power likes of Jim Jordan, MT Green, Boebert, Gaetz, Hawley, Cruz, Blackburn, et al.

Voters need to be reminded that Republicans voted against the popular Inflation Reduction Act, Covid Relief, even Gun Safety and Chips. The Red Republican Team is against people. What do they want for Americans that we don't have?

I still think that too many pundits are unaware or downplaying the total amount of RAGE that so many of us older (and younger) women are feeling. We are not going to forget and we are going to vote. It may come down to the younger voter actually getting to the polls as well.

Trumps big problem is that everything is all about Trump. He's in it for the fame, the notoriety, the celebrity and absolutely the ability to steer financial rewards to friends and family. I think more and more people are coming to appreciate that there isn't an original policy idea in his head. But, for some reason, largely white blue-collar workers love this selfish billionaire. It's an abiding mystery.

Squatty was right in 2016! Let’s make sure that that never happens again. A Party with no platform is like a ship with no anchor, just going where the winds will take it and we know who the windiest person involved in our politics is..by far.

Thanks, Dan and Elliott. Did I miss the Saturday feel good edition? I hope not.

At what moment in time did Republicans think Americans would step in and stop their illegal and immoral take-over of our Democracy? Enough already. Do we have to go the full 100% Hitler route before people like Josh Hawley are finally silenced? I'm disgusted and sickened by Republican corruption.

If the Democrats can retain control of at one of the houses, let it be the Senate—that way, at least President Biden can keep getting judges confirmed to the federal courts. As we have all learned with the Supreme Court decisions this year, the value of this cannot be overstated.

There are two key issues that will help tremendously- INSIST news be a force for good and remove as a profit center. Second- Get $ out of politics. The first way to begin this process is to repeal Citizens United.

The people have to stand up and do this as neither party wants this to change. We need to use a cattle prod on our elected officials…Washington and our leaders move TOO SLOW- they need to learn how to be nimble like a Silicon Valley start up-( One of the good things about Silicon Valley).
