Thanks Dan, why doesn't the house committee just put up a sign that says Gaetz did it. I've learned one thing from tRump only the guilty put out NDA's he puts them out like the gaudy wall paper in his golf motels. Gaetz is just as bad 👎. If he didn't do it then there wouldn't be all this fuss now would there?

Such Sickness and Criminality in our Government. Our current President should have done his sworn job of protecting our Nation from enemies Foreign and Domestic. Instead, Joe Biden has just stood by and permitted our country to be taken over by traitors and criminals, to include the convicted felon, our former President Donald tRump, who should already be serving time in Prison for his many crimes and Especially TREASON While In Office As President!!! WTF Anymore??!! No One Has Done Anything That Is Required. We, should have stood up, like our forefathers before us DID! Supreme Court Justices Should Be In Jail Too! Our Government and Legal System, at the Highest Levels are Corrupt. And like stupid sheep, that WE HAVE BEEN, we just stand by, bend over and take it! We're All To Blame. It's supposed to be Our Job, as Citizens to Stand Up and to Prohibit, at all costs, what All of our Elected Officials Have Done to us and our Country over the years. We have NOT Held Them Responsible! Nor have we done Our Job.

Hi, Dan! I just wrote a letter to the MN. Star Tribune about the disgraceful nomination of Matt Gaetz, and that he may replace a great jurist and ethical man, Merrick Garland. I see you are as angry as I am. Thanks for your great insights! Carol Larsen, Plymouth MN

Those who voted for 45/47 are about to reap the consequences of their choice, unfortunately those of us who didn't, will also have to live with the choice. However, I wonder in the long run, if those who choose to vote for the republican ticket will suffer a bit more as they see they were bamboozled.

What is all of this distracting us from?

With the announcement of each new nominee we sink further into the swamp that Trump promised to drain, and drain it he has - into the sewer. His nominations are an insult to the people, the country, and the rule of law. The kindest thing that can be said about Gaetz is that he's rno longer in the House of Representatives. The worst that can be said is that he will be the country's Attorney General, assuming that the Senate confers the office on him. We saw what the same group of Republican Senators didn't do when it came to completing the two impeachment processes that the House handed tthem. Unless they change their stripes, grow a backbone and an unprecedented level of integrity, we may be stuck with him (and the rest of these malicious misfits). At this point, confidence is not high that they will do the right thing.

They are trying to drag us into their filthy sewer which they all inhabit. One wonders how do they look into the faces of their partners and worse, their children, if they have any. They should not have any children as they will cause them such humiliation. They should have thought of ountry and family before becoming liars and full of corruption. Most of these despicable lying corrupt lowlives should toget elected, but that migh depend on honest men and women in government to never vote forbthem or to vote them out, no matter what frump says. HAS HE FOUND ALL THESE MEN IN THECSAME SEWER…? Trump is destroying us and our country so he can stay out of jail for his terrible crimes of the last several, years. What kind of message are We the People sending round the world letting him pull this garbage in order not tonbe jailed for his crimes of felonies, the attack on our Capitol, a most terrible crime against country, and corrupt filthy judges almost as dishonest as trump is. Throwing immigrants out of our country? All of us are here because our family many many years before us were immigrants. PLEASE, SOMEBODY HELP. IS THERE NO ONE WHO CAN HELP US AND OUR COUNTRY SURVIVE THIS TERRIBLE DISGRACE. WE ARE ASHAMED.

The job will fall to the Democratic voters. Democratic leadership and the DNC must start listening to working folk once again, develop a message of support, and realise that there are two economies - the big one that doesn't much affect the many, and the kitchen-table economy, that of everyone who pays for groceries, fuel, utilities, insurance, rent, etc. Then mount an information/education campaign on all forms of media to combat the ever-present lies and fear.

Consider that Gaetz may be the intentional and willing “sacrifice” to distract our attention and get Orange Hitler traction on his other horrific choices. No doubt Gaetz will be rewarded some other way for his “service” as a bargaining chip.

No one should be surprised about Trump's choice of Matt Gaetz for Attorney General. A man not exactly admired for his scholarly legal pursuits or judicial temperament, Gaetz is most widely recognized as a viciously rabid attack dog now being put in the service of Donald Trump to inflict revenge on those who dared to oppose him.

In the mould of Senator McCarthy and Roy Cohen, Gaetz will leverage every legal weapon available to him to smear, persecute and bludgeon everyone targeted by Trump as his foe. Trump selected him wisely, but did America select Trump wisely?

The founding fathers of our Constitution built safeguards into it to create checks and balances among our 3 branches of government to avoid abuses by any one branch. One of the most important safeguards against Presidential abuse is the responsibility of the Senate to approve major government appointments by the President.

For Trump to exploit a legal loophole by waiting for or instructing the Republican majority of the Senate to go on recess so that he can then appoint Gaetz and other incompetents like RFK Jr. who will serve as the powerful government officials in the land for 2 years without the scrutiny and consent of the Senate would be an abuse of his power.

Given the recent Supreme Court decisions greatly expanding the President's immunity from prosecution for crimes and illegal acts while acting as President, and given the Trump team's declaration that they intend to dispense with the standard criminal and other background checks on prospective appointees, our country will be edging that much closer to a dictatorship.

The Oxford American Dictionary defines a "dictator" as 1. "a ruler with total power over a country" and 2. "a person who behaves in an autocratic way."

Thank you for an excellent write up. Why are we all surprised? Be careful what you wish for? Isn’t that most Americans desired and now they deserve. It is very sad and unfortunate. Call me old fashioned or paranoid or whatever, I feel the United States as a country has been badly jinxed. This doesn’t seem to be the country of Tip Oneil, Howard Baker in the Congress. What has happened and happening here lately is beyond belief and utterly disgusting. Where is the outrage, guys ? Of course, Gaetz is nothing but a scourge and a scoundrel in society. He should never be even close to the AG’s office. I think but the real reason for his nomination is to divert attention from the other “” winner’s choice of nomination— the defense guy and the DNI lady - a Putin sympathizer.

The guy has not even assumed the Office. The worst ( or the best, depending which side you are on ) is yet to come.

In all fairness, Biden- a good man, Sir cannot be forgiven for sleeping at the switch when it comes to illegal immigration. Why did he not shut the border, I know a very complex issue since times immemorial. The optics and the impact on economy simply devastating, which his opponents pounced on.

Unfortunately the entire nation has to pay for the follies of the powerful few.

God really Bless America.

I am at a loss for words.

My two cents.

Thank you

“Why did he not shut the border?” Are you %#@&ing kidding me? Biden and Congress HAD a bipartisan border agreement DONE and %#@&ing Trump torched it! Scaring people over immigration is his only card and he destroyed a hard won agreement for his selfish purposes. Sheesh.

can he not get into trouble for doing that?

Very true, but the Senator Lankford bill was only recently, what about the first few years ? I am certainly not justifying Trump’s action. Far from it.

Thank you

You are correct - the Immigration Bill ( killed by Trump) came too late and Biden gave the job to Harris early on so she owned the problem. What Biden cannot be forgiven for is breaking his pledge to be a one term President, a bridge to the future for younger leaders. Even in our most dedicated and conscientious leaders, power is blinding and leads to poor decision making. I only dread what power in the hands of men without a moral conscience can do. Let's hope there are a few republican senators that use their power as our constitution demands.

Q-Were there or better, how many sexual assaults/adultery/gropings/coverups between Big hands Trump, Gaetz, Brett Kavanaugh?

I think this team can get out of any accountability. The United States Supreme Court has our backs.

Don't forget about Boris Epshtein, and of course the big daddy of them all, "Jeffrey Epstein," who conveniently "committed suicide in prison." You know he had all the goods on Trump. The man is a sexual deviant and is encouraging young men to follow his lead. I'm glad I'm a fat old broad, but I worry about my nieces and all the other young girls who are more vulnerable because of the choices of some Americans.
