CSN&Y have, over the years, "made me feel something". So have you Dan more recently. Thanks for your ongoing reporting.

TY Dan. And as a nice piece of serendipity, Neil Young's Rockin in the Free World was featured at the DNC. You may recall that Young did not give permission to tfg to use it. Great song, great sentiments:

CSN&Y was the group which had the most influence on me in this time period. The music I could turn on and almost immediately have my spirits lifted. The music I played when a newborn was having trouble sleeping and I was walking the floor with her. But to hear the quote about the fellowship of the group and how they viewed the music they produced makes total sense to me now. All could have sung, composed, and appeared alone but what made them successful was their ability to share the spotlight and perform together. They were scared but did it anyway! Pretty important lesson for 2024. We do not need an autocrat. We need a team with shared values led by a woman who is focused on the people. Brilliant choice and reminder for this Sunday after a very busy week.

Did it again, Dan. An old song. I knew and loved the song but didn't know the story. Before Steady showed up in my email this morning, I had a moment of wondering what song Dan was going to send us today. Always look forward to it. THANK YOU!

As a 73 year old woman, literally sitting within 6ft of my original Woodstock poster. ThankYou for the memories.

Jakob Dylan did a really good doc on Laurel Canyon Music.

Also, a documentary on Laurel Canyon, I think originally aired on Showtime.

Both featured interviews CSN&Y. David Crosby(a not always likable character)but was honest about his problems. Being me traveling from Beatle Mania to the Laurel Canyon music, it’s nice to read the above.

Max Yasgur threw a heck of a party at his farm in Bethel, NY 55 years ago. Almost a half a million in attendance and an array of entertainers that made the headline in the newspapers almost as long as the stock exchange ticker. And Dan, you picked one of the most outstanding tunes of that weekend to highlight in this week’s column. An excellent choice. Who, of that era, can ever forget “I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are”. Such poignant lyrics. I plan to listen to it multiple times today..,,I think I may even have the original vinyl.

2yrs ago we veered off our usual trip to Boston to see WoodStock. Both the town&farms, hope we viewed Yasgur’s farm??.

Worth the side trip.

Harmony is a big part what set CSN (and sometimes Y) apart. For some reason their voices just blended in a unique way.

Of course their songs were great. Some reflected the times, while others are timeless.

Soulful! Thank you, Mr. Rather; I needed this today. My husband died of brain cancer last week. He loved playing guitar and singing. Suite: Judy Blue Eyes was among his favorites. When I played this video, I could almost hear him harmonizing. So poignant.
