Mr. Rather, I agree with almost everything you write. However, I respectfully disagree with two points you made here. President Biden was strapped with a deadline made by Trump for the withdrawal of US troops from Afganistan. When things went south he reacted responsibly amd appropriately. In other words he did what we should expect a president to do. He responded to the reality he faced. Secondly, as is common knowledge, the president has very little control over inflation. While the legislative actions he championed may have led to inflation, it is the Feseral Reserve's responsibility to take action quell inflation. It was and remains the Fed's slow response that has exasperated the problem.

I would also point out that I am currently vacstuoning in Europe and the inflation here is double digit and not improving. We hear too little about how bad the rest of the world has it regarding inflation pains. Putin's war against Ukraine and the global pandemic are the true drivers. Those drivers are excelerated in the US because we the people fail to recognize the world is in crisis and want to live as though a is well. All is not well!

Just as your newsletter is titled STEADY, we have a lifelong public servant and legislator as POTUS who is also STEADY. And I am grateful.

President Biden is the real deal. He knows how it feels to win and lose. He has the experience of a working class family that lost everything. When you know the struggles you can make a meaningful difference. This is what leadership looks like.

More proof of the absurdity of the Republican argument that government is inherently evil and unneccessary. Of course, they only feel that way when Democrats are in charge - when it's their turn, they believe government is a wonderful instrument, either to bludgeon the livelihoods of people and groups who they don't like, or as a way to line their own pockets while granting favors to whomever donates to their campaigns. They're so in love with government, in fact, that they're willing to lie, cheat steal, or whatever else it takes to remain in power no matter what the outcome of elections are. Good government, executed well and with good intentions, can be a difference-maker for the common good, as well as a champion for democracy, equality, and the rule of law.

The one thing that I rarely hear mentioned when the subject of the Afghanistan withdrawal comes up is this. Biden did not initiate that withdrawal, trump did and kept the mess secret and then dumped it Bidens lap with no prior notice! I think given the time line and circumstances Biden and his team dis an exceptional job. Unfortunately no one mentions this, nor gives him credit, only the blame! Which is actually the norm in this country these days.

Except, "honorable, responsible Republican" by and large is an oxymoron. Liz Cheney comes to mind, as does Adam Kinzinger. They've both been shut out by their party. I can't think of any others who fit this description.

I'll admit it: Biden is shaping up to be a genuine Progressive Democrat. I've been so disappointed with the last two Democratic presidents that I didn't have much hope for "Old School" Biden, either, especially since he was Obama's VP. Now it looks like he's paving the way to overturning 40 years of Neo-Lib destruction of our national values and our economy, and he's making a genuine attempt at making America into a government of the people, by the people and for the people (I always get the order of Lincoln's formula confused. Sorry). What I hope and pray for is a Democratic victory in the bulk of the mid-term races, and that the Democrats will control both houses decisively. Then, that Schumer, Pelosi and many of the old guard will step back and allow the younger and fresher members to step into leadership and let them complete the dismantling of the evils of the Reagan Revolution. I think the new generation will not just lead us into a reprise of the New Deal-style policies, but will help us uncover a new and brighter vision of America that will finally break down all the racial, ethnic, gender and socio-economic barriers that have stood in the way of the genuine greatness we have been seeking for so long.

Thank you, Dan Rather, for uplifting positive change brought about by good leadership. I am so impressed with Pres Biden, who just continues working hard for all of us and ignores all the negative propaganda put out by those who still do not put country over party. We are lucky to have him for as long as we can!

again we have a president and a slim majority in congress and the president is using thst to govern like he was elected to do rather than try to steal as much as he can and harm his detractors LIKE THE PREVIOUS FASCIST SOCIOPATH AND CRIMINAL AND HIS WEAK KNEEED REPUBLICAN ENABLERS.

Dan, could you please write an article explaining what polling entails? President Biden is a leader. Just look at the American Recovery Act, which kept this Nation afloat during those dark days of COVID. But why is his polling so low? Is it the way the question(s) are asked? Is it because media seems to jump negatively on President Biden’s actions? Is it because he doesn’t send out 39 asinine tweets every day? Yes, our President makes mistakes but he accepts that and takes action where necessary.

Please explain if you can about polling? Since that seems to be the media’s easiest scorecard. Thank you.

President Biden has 40 years of experience in serving his country. I trust his judgment and he knows exactly this country needs. He is old school and is doing a hell of a job. Our job is to support him , and VOTE BLUE for the midterm elections in November.

"Steady" could be President Biden's word of choice. He is the leader who will bring in cabinet members capable of helping avert a crisis, union members and management and convince them to work together.

Thank You Dan for providing news of this event. To me it was Great news.

Well, Sat down and watch News Mix, and to my surprise, CNN only spend about 10-15 seconds on this event. none from others.

Two takes from that, first how many even knew or care about it. or just those the general public not aware the in-pack this would have had. IF gone on for months on strike.

BUT then they would have once we had shortages and whom fault would have that been?

Second, has News on BOTH Sides, as NOTE CNN changes leadership As you posted on Tweeter a few weeks ago!

Have News outlets only going to I`ll call Tigger happy to cover ONLY things and spin Anger and Hate to the other side. Vs here`s the facts. News on and on, over the immigrants flown to N.H.

No matter what side one on. As to Gov. We will not be able to hold together if divided or keeps going as we are going. We will fail on Global stage or mostly likely from with-in first, Implode.

President Biden has been pro-active in doing what the Americans expect their leader will do for them. He has performed very well since being a leader yet the Republicans, especially the MAGA Republicans cannot see, hear, even smell all the pro-people projects he accomplished, so far. What we hear from them are lies, twisted facts, threats, invented information, gossip, even below-the-belt personal attacks thrown towards him and the Democrats. The Republicans are no help at all. What is happening to the Party of Abraham Lincoln? When they are in power, they do nothing but abuse such powers and when they are not, they distract, deny, ignore and practically stop the country from moving forward. Americans must realize now, before it is too late that the Republicans are here to divide us, to stop us from moving forward for a better tomorrow. It is our duty to stop them from further decay of the political system of this country. Not voting for them is the only way.
