Thank You soo much for your impeccable work and contributions to bearing the Truth. You did not hesitate to step up and make it right when you did get it wrong. Integrity! This very thing needs to be protected even more so now in these dark yet hopeful times. Steady...how apprapoe this title is. Steady for the truth, life, liberty and justice for ALL! Thank you again for this nostalgic, informative, and emotional post.

Dan, I am so glad you didn’t choose to retire. I so appreciate that you have a long view of our history. It contributes to looking at what’s happening in our country from a measured perspective rather than a reactive view that has become so common among conservative writers. You have been around all my conscious life, the voice of reason and deep wisdom. Now you where I go to get an accurate read on what’s happening in the political arena. Thank you for all you’ve done for good through the years.

I know you said it didn’t feel like work but you put yourself on the line over and over again. I hope young journalists follow your example and that they continue to learn from you for a long time. Mr. Rather, I have watched your news reporting for most of my life. I have always trusted in your reporting and the truth in your stories. It's good to know that you are still able to 'report' to us all, and pray for your good health. Hopefully, we will be able to see the movie in the near future.

Although I have had one big disagreement with you I'm sure if my life was open to the public like yours has been there would be more then one thing most people would be in disagreement with.

I'm glad you and your wife were able to enjoy such a great evening.

Hopefully you have many more years to enjoy your friends and family.

I understand, and you convey very well, the satisfactions you derived from practicing your craft. However, the work unfortunately is never enough without self-satisfaction. Satisfaction, that is, with the totality of your life; and of course that starts with family. But there are larger matters of principle and integrity that are always in play, no matter how long you live. I find it convincing to be able to suggest that Dan Rather does play on that larger field. I regard Mr. Rather as a man of grace.
