That wry smile after he was told he got the job - wow, what a professional! I remember taking my kid brother to see this movie when he was seven or so. When we exited the theater, I choked up at the sight of the front of his T-shirt, soaked with tears!
I've seen this before - probably on my DVD, but it's wonderful. He was into it that they stopped the audition and that's why the guy wrapped it up. And what a contrast with the smile. You can also see the kid gearing up before he starts really getting into it. Really wonderful acting. It reminds me of a story about the very young ( 4 years) Ron Howard going to an audition and muttering to himself, "I love my teddy bear. I love my teddy bear."
Aww, that was SO good! As if actually watching a scene from the movie. Poor little Elliot wasn't going to let his friend go, and the emotions and his delivery seemed so real. Interesting to see the clip about his selection, too.
I loved this movie when I saw it at the theater and still list it among my favorites.
Great message for Christmas! No one , not even the government, should have the right to separate us from someone we love. It is a great story for all age groups that it is crucial to protect all close relationships , even with people far away, even if they may seem alien to others!
Even the government must bow to the extreme pain inflicted when a person is required to give up a friend! The courage to confront any power which ,would demand turning on a friend, is taught here in a wonderful way. Thank you. I am sure this clip will inspire many ,who need the inspiration, to do the right thing to protect those special relationships in their lives ,even if they have to face down people who insist that they have the right to seize or to separate friends .No matter from whence they have come ,to deprive human beings from being able to be together , or to communicate, does inflict pain on the person being forced to abandon love and loyalty.
Unusual that the tears of a child can cause one to smile . It is the courage behind the tears which moves me. Maybe you too?
The kid was a natural! Thank you so much for sharing this. It's priceless!
