Biden looked like Anton LaVey.

Exactly if the shoe fits and it does, then put it on you been wearing it, if your not ashamed of your rhetoric then wear it. I particularly love the pictures of Pres Biden and Pres Trump showing them in the same frame with which would you rather have. I choose the smiling, fit, well dressed older man in stead of the unfit, frowning, slob.

Thank you again, Mr. Dan for nailing the nature of this particular "great juncture(s) in American history". I could not agree more with the points you make. I believe President Biden is doing exactly what any great president would do in this situation - call out the threat to the nation, and fight back against it tooth and nail. Now is definitely not the time for appeasement; it's time for the enablers to be called to task and make their decisions over whether to support American democracy or to support DJT, because the two are at extreme odds with each other. Pick one and either be on the good side or the bad side of history, because it will be history forever, even if the worst happens and the real losers try to rewrite it.

What strength of character it takes for someone to do what Biden has and is doing, and what a contrast to the cowardliness of a so-called POTUS who sulks in the White House, doing nothing, while citizens are killing each other and smashing into the Capitol in search of heads to hang.

I have no vitriol against Republicans per se (there are those I actually admire), but I have everything against those participating in an organized attempt to hijack our democracy. Forget the MAGA moniker in light of their own self-declarations: they're called traitors. And thank you, President Biden, for calling them out. I am beyond thankful to have a person of such strength and character leading our nation.

It is my hope that others in the media, or those who have the ability to attract the attention of those needing some measure of "enlightenment" around the country, will read this piece. The fact of the matter is that the wholly illegitimate former president and his minions pose an existential threat to the Republic, and must be called out at every turn. The "both side-ism" rampant in the national media is not only wholly irresponsible, but serves no purpose whatsoever; the choice is simple: democracy or an authoritarian cult.

I didn't hear the speech live on TV, however I just read it. I thought it was a powerful speech and truthful. I don't understand all of the fuss. It was to the point and respectful. I also appreciated how he differenciated between MAGA Republicans and conservative Republicans.

CNN was just purchased by a billionaire Trump supporter and now The Don is shifting his allegiance from Fox news to the new right wing programing of CNN. This is sad because we just lost the voice of truth that was our beacon of light where now there is none. Is there anything that man can't soil with his ignorance?

And t to be honest also I believe the former guy said it because he thought he was being clever to parody what Harry said. He was a bit famous for parodying what other folks said first, after all.

"All that is needed for Evil to triumph is that Good Men do Nothing." The Germans did nothing about Hitler, and look where it got them. Are we going to ignore History and let the MAGA and Trump take over the World, or will we stop fighting amongst ourselves and pull together to save the greatest form of Government the World has ever seen, our US Democracy? It is up to us all.

As usual, your observations and assessments are spot on. Discussing dangerous times need your innate clarity.

Thanks Elaine. Bearing in mind that I'm wrong more often than I'm right, my instinct is that the likelihood of violence is much less in the indictment phase, than it would be upon conviction. A conviction -or several of them- would be the end of the beginning.

The GOP has become the party of lies, mistruths, Alternative facts and racism. How can anyone in their right mind not see the MAGA philosophy as a threat??

There Biden goes again, all telling the truth like it’s something everyone has to believe on. Look how many people are offended by the truth! Stop “truth fascism,” Brandon!

Thank you for this. Biden's seemed like a moderate speech, given what's been going on. TFG reportedly spoke for TWO hours, a day or two later, supposedly on behalf of a couple of Repubs who were behind in their polls, but apparently he mostly - as he does nearly always! - griped about how badly he's abused, about "her emails!", about anything but reality. Or about the two candidates he was supposed to be supporting. He took, and had seriously inadequate care, of top-secret documents, for nearly 2yrs, and now he's a pitiful victim.

I hope President Biden makes more of these. It helps. I'm sick of listening and watching the MAGA bunch and I never want to see TFG again as long as I live. These are truly nasty people.

Dr. Kissinger quotes Konrad Adenauer stating that a political leader not being political is the very definition of stupidity. Everything a President does is political. That's their job.

Thank you Mr. Rather for standing up for democracy and sharing your opinion on President Biden's speech in reference to Magna Republicans. America need your voice and in fact we need many voices. The midterm election will determine the course of our country. Our democracy is on the line and every voter must be awakened to this truth.
