I agree. I've been pondering the term "gun culture." It seems like something of an oxymoron. I keep thinking about dear Chairman Mao who said "Power comes from the barrel of a gun." Nice guy, Chairman Mao. The power to kill schoolchildren does not sound like the power any of us should have.

I don't know how else to communicate this, so please forgive the process comment on a content thread. I am getting two copies of every issue. I don't think I paid twice.

There should be legal consequences for Barr, Durham and all Trump administration officials who acted with impunity and little regard for honesty, integrity, laws, etc. Unfortunately, do not see any legal consequences for these dirt bags happening.

TG for your voice every day. Thank you for continuing to set the record straight. Thank you for speaking truth, in this world where these bad actors continue to undermine history, truth and what even the definition of facts are. You keep us sane.

Any other day this story would shock all Americans, democrats and Republicans. Now it’s just another day in the neighborhood with the unethical cheating GOP. Similar to mass shootings. People just skim by these news headlines (if they’re even in the news) and say, wow, somebody should do something about this. Thanks for sharing, Mr. Rather. Stay well, my friend.

I agree one hundred percent since I am not a gun fan. I live in Oakland, California where a gun is most certainly not your best friend. If I saw someone with a gun it would not put a smile on my face.

I am so glad you are not letting go of past iniquities that are being committed by our officials. The ”Barr” has been lowered.

It is so important and invaluable that you keep bringing out the true story. Please keep doing it as long as you can.

This isn’t the first time it’s happened in our history either.

What I’ve learned from our history is it all comes out in the end. Sometimes too late to catch the wrong doers, but they always get found out.

I feel that Barr is only looking out for himself just as DT did. Like attracks to like!

Hopefully, we will be able to bring ourselves back to a sense of integrity again.

Thanks to you and other writers like yourself who do not let us forget what really is going on, we will have the opportunity once more to keep our precious democracy in place!

I am so glad you keep setting the record straight, Dan. Your writing is unbelievable, and her use of the English language and the way you express what is going on with our country is in valuable to all of us. Keep on doing it as long as you can. We all appreciate it so much.

The truth will prevail!

I am feeling an overload of anger and fatigue about the lack of action and holding accountable Trump, Barr and company. It is work not to be worn out with this seemingly slow process

Thank you for this. It has always been a question in the back of my mind as to why previously "successful" persons would agree to risk it all to do Donald Trump's bidding. Trump is a characterless individual lacking both warmth and humor. His behavior is one only to emulate if your goal is to be a dictator or a thug or both. If you have spent your career believing your cause and character are just--even "holier than thou", why would you ruin it for this creep? Not much of any of this makes sense anymore except perhaps taking a break from the endless news cycle to do a bit of thinking and walking about. What has saved my sanity over the past several weeks has been encounters with really pleasant strangers in ordinary walks of life who have, by their interactions with me, made my day brighter. You cannot legislate a civil society, but you can make the lives of individual human beings better simply by practicing decent behavior.

While I agree that here in the US "history" will be rewritten showing MAGA as the best thing that ever happened to the US, I also believe that other nations in the world will maintain more accurate reflections and that the world will remember this as the time a nation that had great promise slid down the tubes to failure. I don't see how the GOP expects to maintain competitiveness in the global market with the uneducated work force that will be left in the US. While we do continue to make progress in the area of liberty and justice for all, the GOP is doing all it can to reverse that progress and unless many many more of us stand up and vote, they will succeed. Having national leaders that have no shame is to me rather frightening, not just for democracy but for all interpersonal relationships...how do you ever trust anyone when lying and cheating is held up as the best way to be. When persons from these families marry, do the parent say at the wedding, "Now don't forget, you can't believe anything this person tells you so you need to lie first"? I feel that I am a person that has genuine feelings and it makes me very sad to think of my children and grandchildren being in relationships where there is no trust.

Shamelessness does seem to be the path to success for the GOP. The more people refuse to watch media willing to point that out, the worse off America will be. The GOP have become masters at shamelessly screaming “news bias” when the media truthfully reports on their egregious obstruction of legislation and the law. Everything becomes muddied when the media, in an attempt to escape the charge of bias, bends or breaks the truth by falsely grasping at “both parties do it.”

How are people going to actually deal with reality and address the danger to our democracy if they’re led to believe that both parties equally disregard our Constitution and disrespect the will of the

voter ? The latest poster boy for shamelessness is George Santos brazenly lying his way into office. There is no Democrat equivalent. His conduct would have led to censure, and possibly expulsion, 30 years ago. Now there is hardly a word from the GOP recognizing his unlawful win.
