I look forward to reading your words, you give me hope and help me feel connected to my Father, who passed away 13 years ago. He was a loving Husband, Father and History teacher for 35 years‼️ He was a brilliant writer like you and along with our Mother taught us to be kind, empathetic, tolerant for all of humanity, and compassionate learners❣️ He spoke of you often as a man of reason. Thank you‼️
Her performance in Pete Kelly’s Blues has always stuck with me. I have sung the Rainbow Song to my children and grandchildren for years but her version so starkly depicts the brokenness of her character.
I love your newsletters. They are always a surprise in what you share. I love how much you enjoy music and share it so often. One thing I love too is that you keep it short but full of just the right amount of info.. helpful in this time of attention overload! I'm so glad you are still with us on the planet and still contributing to the discussion in such meaningful ways. Thank you!
Yes! I remember Peggy Lee and the song It's a good day! I liked those vibrant positive songs from those earlier times... they lifted our spirits. We could use a big dose of that exuberant spirit that no longer seems in fashion. People used to say, "There's nothing good nor bad but saying makes it so" ❤️!
Peggy Lee was my dad’s favorite singer. Pretty sure he had a crush on her.
My parents had a friend who serviced juke boxes and stopped by our house a couple times a month to give us 45s that weren’t real popular, anymore. Dad would light up when there was a Peggy Lee record in the stack. 💕
Peggy Lee's music was a fixture in my parent's home. When they were in college (pre-WWII), they went to the Powers Hotel in Fargo, ND to hear Ms. Lee sing. They couldn't afford to eat in the dining room where she performed but if they found a coffee shop booth close to the pass through door to the dining room, they could order 2 cokes and an order of fries and eat very, very, slowly. Peggy Lee was part of their 70+ year love story.
I do remember that song! And the Positivity that went with it! Alas.....
Jamestown, N.D, in fact . Same as......Yep,you guessed it ! Louis L'amour.

I love her voice and remember my mother playing "Is That All There Is?" a lot! Love that song too!
This is a reason to smile and have a great day!
