Mr. Rather, are you there? Now, more than ever, we could all use some words of comfort. I am afraid for all of us. What do we do now? How do we move forward safely in this nightmare scenario we find ourselves in?

So how many of you who call Kennedy a conspiracy theorist have taken the time to listen, really listen to him on podcasts? His beef is with pharmaceuticals that aren't thoroughly tested before they are released. He & his children are vaccinated. As for his beef with the FDA, why are we the wealthiest nation in the world yet the sickest? In Canada dyes are forbidden in cereals, but in the USA Dyes are everywhere. Read the side f a box of cereal and tell me none of those additives are dangerous. I am disappointed that he joined Trump, but Dems didn't want him & he really wants to help improve health in the USA.

I totally agree on all points, but with a huge *however!*

the USA is the only industrialized nation with a corporate, for-profit health care (wealth-scare) system driven with a fake 'health insurance' (wealth assurance, death assurance) industry. I know we are too brainwashed to really listen or comprehend, but we must: our lives and the lives of our children are at stake. Landmark 2009 Harvard Medical School study (look it up online) found that the U.S. system needlessly kills "at least" 45,000 citizens through profit-based wealth-scare decisions.

Not only does our system kill at least that many citizens needlessly (how about calling it what it is - mass murder?) but you can imagine the number who are maimed or have their lives shortened because some high school graduate or business major in a huge (needless) glass building tells doctors and nurses what they can and cannot do. On top of that, think about the millions of families who have lost their homes, their pensions, and their life savings because of wealth scare.

The insurance industry (a corporate, for profit industry) has NO BUSINESS being involved in medical care.

We need what every other industrialized nation around the world has (meaning civilized, Western-style, democratic, not tyrannies like China, Russia, and the like). They all have UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE.

And we are taught to hate that as 'evil socialism' and 'communism' etc when in fact if Jesus were here today, he would totally recommend it. It would become the 11th Commandment. No better yet, it would become a key component of the middle commandment: "Do Not Kill."

Answering ignorant questions:

1) "Is it socialism?" *** Whatever you want to call it, it is a foremost commandment of Christianity and Judaism. Treat others as you want them to treat you, The Golden Rule.

2) "how would we pay for it?" *** It more than pays for itself, as proven by the fact that every other industrialized nation has universal health care and it is better, cheaper, faster, and more live saving by far. The wealth/death assurance industry ("health insurance" with an evil grin) steals between one third and one half of every actual medical dollar stolen from our US national GDP, to pay the middlemen. Get rid of the middlemen. Example of how it more than pays for itself: after saving half the money by just eliminating the thieves in those big glass buildings, who do NOTHING for your medical care but steal money, the next thing is to realize: PREVENTIVE HEALTH CARE, especially pre-natal and general women's health, saves a trillion dollars a year.

3) "why should I pay for your medical care?" *** it's the old 'socialism' (ridiculous) argument again. When you walk out the door and step on the sidewalk, that's socialism. Here we don't mean the hateful, dishonest, fox noise disinformation, but the real meaning in a moderate sense. The sidewalk is our collective taxes (money) at work for all of us. Go to your car parked on the street; the street is socialism. Drive to the corner. See those red lights or stop signs? All 'socialism" - making our combined wealth work together for all of us, so our children can cross the street safely, so we can drive a few blocks without being killed in a reckless car crash. That is why we have laws. It works in every other industrialized nation... why not step up now, and let the Progressive Democratic Liberal Pro-Human (call us what you will) party overcome the evil medieval barons of big guns, big industry, big wealthscare, and make us all a million times better off with universal health care.

Agent orange wants chaos. So he appoints worm brain kennedy to destroy public health and get rid of vaccines. He wreaks havoc on the economy with a huge tax on everyone (which he calls tariffs) and eliminates our labor supply (the ones who do the actual work - which he calls immigrants). He then sells our national secrets to oligarchs who pay him big bucks for that information. The US slides downward as agent orange blames Democrats and some of his own supporters (as he always has done - he calls them disloyal). And we return to the 2017 inaugural address “Only I can save you” from this shit-hole country. Immigrant oligarchs Leon Mush (South Africa), Peter Thiel (Germany), and Rupert Murdoch (Australia) will all laugh as they fly away from the mess they created.

Vote for Harris/Walz or bow to the oligarchs.

Let's see..... how many GOP parents and grand-parents want to give up on the Polio vaccine being administered to their little ones? I'd vote for my family's healthcare and, OBTW, that's not the vote that Trump is making.

In the main Trump is the solution.. but agreed he has to be careful who he appoints.

Well said. For so many reasons we have to elect Kamala -- for life (health), Liberty ( freedoms if choice), and pursuit of happiness....as well as working for a healthy planet, peace, equality and equity.

I think trump doesn't want to be President again. He is just grifting for millions from donors, RNC so he can pay his fines of almost a Billion $$$.

His legal cases will never go to trial before he dies, everything will go to US Supreme Court to decide if trump is now grandfathered into immunity for official acts with their new immunity decision. That will take years! trump will never go to jail anyway. DOJ, whoever will find a way for him to avoid that. If a sexual predator, fraudster, felon can be President, our government is high jacked by GOP/MAGA/Foreign Money and what should happen has nothing to do with what will happen.

US Congress may continue being controlled by 41 Senator filibuster votes, 6 corrupt, biased US Supreme Court judges will continue "writing decisions for the ages," 1 person in the WH will now have immunity on all 'official acts' however they may be defined. So, 51 people now have complete control of Federal Government and only 42 were elected to represent us and USA.

If trump wins and GOP is still his posse, We have to figure out someway to resist tyranny, a do-nothing Congress and broken Supreme Court.

David Brooks of the NY Times made a comment on PBS's News Hour last night that caught my attention. The MAGA crowd never supported the Republican Party. They voted for them because they too are outsiders. They never were doing well. They don't have college degrees and good jobs; they work for low wages at physical jobs. The managers who make the trains run on time get all the credit, but the guys who lay the track and fix the engines get little acknowledgement or money. People without college degrees and good jobs are failures who can be despised for complaining when those with degrees make double their wages. They failed to stay in school; they deserve what they get! These people cook and serve our food. They keep our cars on the road fix the plumbing and deliver the goods to our stores. They take care of the basics of life while we philosophize about the meaning of it all. And we have the gall to wonder what is the matter with them. Trump caught on. He stole the Republican base by talking about their issues. Echoing their complaints. Shouldn't we be asking, what is the matter with us that we didn't see this?

We should be asking what is wrong with all those folks you mention. And yes, I have unmitigated gall to ask them if they have a shred of moral compass? They support a convicted felon, a serial liar who committed a documented (by Washington Post) 30,573 lies or misleading statements in four years as president and continued to accuse Haitians of eating pets and using the example of a boy killed in an accident with an immigrant for political gain when the parents begged him to stop. They support a racist and misogynist who calls his opponent (low ID, dumb, stupid) as well as questioning Obama's birthplace and being convicted of sexual assault and belittling his victim, lying on his taxes by lowballing his property value. Trump sure caught on when he said he could shoot someone on Fifth Ave. and not lose a vote. He has created a cult of skepticism. He's not interested in them believing his lies. He's interested in creating a malleable cult that believes nothing, including unassailable facts.

Yes, Trump should have been put in jail years ago. He is the worst example of privilege run amok. However the worse he is the more his followers love him. He is their finger being poked in your eye. Pretty effective isn't it? Should he win, God forbid, he will do nothing for them, but they will have made their point.

What's wrong with this country is Americans who need to be reminded in ads the terrible things he did as president. Instead. Kamala does wishy-washy ads about the wonderful things she's going to do. Not using the Lincoln Project to do all their ads is the same mistake Hillary made. I'm not confident she'll get any support from Americans who have dismantled their character to vote for one.

Joe more than Kamala chose to fight chaos while following the rules. Dignity isn't selling as well as it could. Last night I watched Rick Steves' doc on fascism. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2ELvxuKMUQ&t=4539s

Now that's scary.
