Thankful, Dan, for that quick recovery and continuing with your on-air CBS-TV duties when that Chicago rent-a-goon 💥gut-punched you on the 1968 Democratic Convention floor which I watched live as a kid, in disbelief.

Well, we ALL survived 1968, so good on us! 🇺🇸👏

Your messages and the opportunity they create for good people, thoughtful Americans, to share and speak with respect and thoughtfulness is one of the "givings" for which I gave thanks on this day. Thank you, Dan and Elliot. Thank you fellow followers for gifting to the "we that is me"

Yesterday morning I was struggling to write what was in my heart this Thanksgiving to send out to family and friends, and then lo and behold, your email came in. You captured in such a beautiful way exactly what I had hoped to convey. I copied it just as you wrote it, giving you and Elliott credit, and sent it off with a short letter. What a gift you gave me that I was able to offer to even more people. I know it got read at many Thanksgiving tables around the country. Thank you for your wisdom and kindness and your ability to speak truths with such grace.

Thank you so much Dan Rather and Elliot Kirschner for giving of yourselves so generously and for caring so deeply about our nation and its people. I also want to thank Almighty God for the enormous blessings and mercy He has shown to our troubled land. I pray that He will continue to do so and lead us in the right path.

I am pointing out that it don't have to be this way and won't continue to be this way because TRUTH is being steadily uncovered and taught intentionally and authentically.

I read your Thanksgiving message after I arrived home from our very large gathering for the holiday. With the exception of the Covid years, my family gatherings ranged from 6 to 20 people. For the first time, we joined together our family and our daughter-in-law's very large extended family in an all-day Thanksgiving feast. I cooked some traditional dishes at my house, but a team of women, girls, and men cooked the main part of the feast at the location. People arrived continuously all day bringing more food, more conversation, more stories. This gathering grew from the first Thanksgivings celebrated by an immigrant family of six people in West Philadelphia to the gatherings of 70 to 100 family and friends, adopted as family, celebrating together outside Dallas. The food reflected the family's early celebrations with Stove Top Stuffing and mashed potatoes along with Lao and Thai dishes. Both the number of celebrants and the diversity of the cuisine continued to grow with additions of the foods of India, Viet Nam, Ashkenazi Jewish, Western European, Nigeria, and the Philippines. The generosity and graciousness of the host family was amazing to feel and to observe, and particularly recognizing the over 40 year history of the event.

My family, both maternal and paternal, were immigrants, albeit early in the 20th century. We celebrated Thanksgiving with large gatherings of our family. The food was plentiful as was the conversation. There was so much for which to be thankful.

In both celebrations from my past and the one enjoyed today, there is the commonality of having a holiday to represent the immigrant experience and give thanks for the opportunities gained.

I hope everyone in the Steady community enjoyed the love and warmth of Thanksgiving.
