When we launched Steady three years ago, the first post contained this photo of yours truly with three muppets. Not what you’d expect of a serious journalist, but now I believe the surprising photo gave us a great start in this new venture on Substack. Since then your support, guidance, and friendship have made it a terrific ride.
So happy anniversary to us and to you, the Steady community. You are the reason we do this work. We are grateful that you have chosen to stick with Steady, and I want to actually say thank you:
My voice may not be 100%, but my spirits are high and my dedication is 1000% to you, the reader. I look forward to bringing you more news and analysis as we head into what looks to be a contentious, ever-changing, and ever-challenging presidential campaign season. Once again, thank you for joining us and continuing to support us and this work.
Stay tuned and stay steady,
Dan

Dan, hearing your voice was such a pleasure. It immediately brought tears to my eyes, reminding me that your wisdom and experience can keep us steady and guide us along this bumpy road. THANK YOU for giving us a touch point of sanity and reason and hope!
Your voice, which has been such an important part of my life practically forever (I’m 73 now, so you and I go WAY back), is STILL as beautiful to me as ever. After all, it’s your brain that counts, and you’ve used yours to inform, enlighten, and inspire us throughout your amazing career. That wonderful, familiar, calm, and yes, steady voice has been a huge part of the news you’ve brought us from all over the world. (It must be bizarre on some level to know that absolute strangers hold such warm, familiar feelings about you.) Congratulations on our Steady birthday, along with our respect, gratitude, and affection, which all run deeper than you might imagine.
