Was there really a film titled “2001: A Space Oddity “?! Just wondering. Enjoyed. Love Bowie and this song. Great voice and space first! Perfect choice.
Thank you again for starting my Saturday off with the best of who we are. Humans on this pale blue dot except for the Chris Hayfields, who are volunteering to explore one of our last frontiers. Just beautiful and overwhelming at the same time.
I listened again earlier this week. Just as powerful now as 2013. I also bought his new book The Apollo Murders yesterday. It’s going to be a great read. Thanks Dan
A ‘concert in space’… fabulous! I have followed the space program, since the late 1950s. I remember watching the round-the-clock, televised reporting during the first years. My excitement was palpable and unrelenting every time. It still is with current launches. Watching Chris Hadfield perform Bowie’s song on this Saturday Smile felt like it put me there for a few minutes. Thank you.
Fellow space geek here. I remember watching Alan Shepard's launch in 1961 - been a fan ever since. Got up at 5:30 am this morning to watch the Atlas Rocket launch.
I love it. I found this version by William Shatner made and recorded some years before his current ride in Blue Origin Rocket 2021. https://youtu.be/3L-bTza_7-I
That is awesome! I had no idea! Thank you 😊
Thank you.
😀
Chris takes "Renaissance Man" to a new level in many ways!
Thanks for posting.
It did make me smile. And discovering there are so many fantastic people to share smiles with is heart warmer.
Love It …..helped to make my day….. thanks Dan!
Oh, different! Fun to know and to listen to. Thanks for sharing.

Of course you are right, and thanks for noting the very odd typo. It has been fixed.
Chris is a Canadian icon. I think everyone in Canada was watching that day. I really enjoyed his daily pictures.

I just love Saturday smiles! It's such a fun way to start the day before plunging into the cold water of the news!
Thanks 😊

Thank you! Colonel Hadfield is one of my favorite astronauts. It was good to watch the video again. It always makes me smile :)
What a great video and performance. Did not know about Hadfield’s accomplishments in space and his talents. Thank you for sharing it.
