Dan, I grew up watching you nightly on the news. Trusting you to be neutral, objective, honest. Where did you sell out? Where did you stop reporting objectively, and start leaning towards your own political views? Selling out to who paid the most. Walter would be ashamed. Your not an editorial!! Your supposed to report the new s, without bias. I trusted you. Goodnight and Good day!!

A very interesting historical perspective and identification of factors involved in assessing fitness for a job. As regards mental health, I am qualified to make that assessment and think Trump gave ample evidence that he was unfit to be president.

I am a republican registered voter but also, I had a stroke in 2013 and I worked till I was 75. I ended up with heart trouble and thought it was time to retire in2022. My supervisor still asks me when I am coming back, I was a hard and steady worker. They say he can't function, but I ran a register, cleaned, stocked shelves, ran the register alone a lot of days and they did not want me to quit. So, this bull about not being able to perform is not true.

Being seriously disabled (chronic pain in both legs from the knees to the toes), I was trying to stay quiet. But I know a little about John when he was the chief cook and bottle washer in Braddock, PA (although they called him Mayor).

He was the ultimate anti-politician, then and now. When I saw him on the debate platform and realized the degree of difficulty he was having, I was heartsick.

To be perfectly frank, there are many Senators who are substantially more tongue–tied than John ever was, and his blunt way of getting his point across, tongue–tied or otherwise, is quintessentially Pennsylvania. But the blunt manner conceals a heart of gold.

As a Canadian resident I am unable to contribute to your election, but I can spend a few minutes passing on a bit of country wisdom. At the end of the day, it's usually worthwhile to take the long view. John will get better. His condition will improve. Dr. Oz, on the other hand, will be unlikely to get better. He almost certainly will be a racist misery until the day he dies.

As long as this man does a good job of being US Senator, what difference does it make? Dr Mehmet Oz is a TV Show celebrity that is making millions for recommending quack remedies that are not supported by solid science. Too many average people are too attached to TV celebrities. Remember John Fetterman spent time trying to deal with issues affecting average everyday Pennsylvanians. This man is recovering from a stroke that fortunately was caught soon enough to keep him from being severely disabled from it. I just hope people in Pennsylvania do not vote for Mehmet Oz. I think he could be a path for Mitch McConnell to become US Senate Majority Leader again. When Mitch McConnell assumes control of The US Senate he will try to undercut President Biden every way he can. McConnell wants to pave the way for a Republican Administration again.

Tell the truth, if you can. All the computer program does is show the sentence(s) of the question in writing. Mr. Fetterman has an auditory processing issue. In other words, he has difficulty getting the words in the right order. The computer writes them correctly. That is all it does.

Yes, crying does not make a person unfit, nor does an inability to walk, and I’m glad we have come away from those taboos, but having difficulty understanding someone who is speaking clearly or an inability to express oneself should be taken into consideration.

I think it would be helpful for our calibration of the credibility of the "leering" journalists and pundits, if their assessments of Fetterman could be easily compared to the recording or transcript of Kara Swisher's interview with him.

Herschel Walker vs Rev Warnock. Not because of his concussions, which Republicans conveniently use to excuse his abortion lies and other lies, but because he contradicts himself at every turn. That man is truly not fit to serve.

So who is more "impaired" a man recovering from a stoke in front of the whole world, who apparently is fully present in interviews, or a man who can't seem to discern the difference between lies and truth?

All good points, as usual!

The GOP for decades now (since the parties flipped during the Civil Rights and Women's Rights movements of the 1950s-1960s and the resignation of Nixon) has framed politics not as a choice between two candidates, but as a team who is fighting an enemy.

Not opponents - with different approaches to solutions - but as inhuman, enemies, dangers, foes.

Newt Gingrich applied that philosophy.

I reference the Dana Milbank book "THE DESTRUCTIONISTS." He is a Washington Post columnist.

I also reference the Fresh Air episode with Terry Gross from August 9, 2022 with Dana Milbank.

It is titled "How the Republican Party came to embrace conspiracy theories and denialism."

So now we are looking at races across the country where people are promising to vote for the letter behind the name, no matter how hypocritical, awful, amoral, unqualified the candidate is.

No matter if their goal is to end "one person, one vote" "consent of the governed" by changing the rules in order to hold on to power. No matter what the majority vote for.

They (the GOP) target up-and-coming leaders to "poison the well" and skew voters' impressions before the person ever rises to the higher roles in government. And they particularly attack minorities and women. They have demonstrated they will use (are using) violence to accomplish their goals.

I never knew what to make of Speaker Pelosi until she offered to punch Donald for trespassing. ❤️ Oh, those violent Democrats! 😂

I am reminded of an old show I used to watch. JUST THE FACTS.

Dragnet. Facts are truth. The truth matters. It isn't slanted and it isn't biased.

It matters. If you can do the job, even with acceptable and reasonable accommodation, you can do the job. I had a minor stroke years ago and I write books. Hmfp. Don't tell me I can't do something. And I am sure John Fetterman feels the same. They should not be called Disabilities, they should be called "amplifying of the abilities" because that's what losing one or two thing does.

It makes the others better.

Just the facts.

In a society that relies on soundbites and video clips as insight, I think people are very quick to dismiss political leaders as incompetent. Moreover many of the critics disparaging the cognitive status of pubic figures don't have any formal medical education to evidence their claims. They blatantly overlook that conditions such as strokes and dementia exist on a spectrum, and thus, many individuals who experience them can still be highly functional in society. Readily labeling people with psychological or cognitive conditions as "unfit", merely negatively reinforces the social stigma that already exists around them. Immense sacrifice is required to successfully battle depression, dementia and strokes, and this achievement should be acknowledged rather than debased by uninformed pundits.

Thank you for saying that someone uses a wheelchair, not that he is confined to it. How we use language matters. Using a wheelchair confers the perception of control and agency, rather than weakness and lack of control associated with the word confined.
