Ah, beauty and artistry pulls me again from the attention to pain and suffering. This is salve to the sorrowing heart. Again, thank you for the smile.

I started listening to Sting's Ten Summoners Tales when it came out & I've always counted it as one of my essential compilations & in my top 10 favorite albums.

I've now watched all of these versions a few times and have cried every time... There are no words to describe the beauty of their voices, or the poignancy of this song. I kept picturing the golden fields of Ukraine, Gaza, Israel, Syria, and so many other ravaged and war torn countries, where fields of gold often become fields of gray... and red. We must do better... for the children, and for everyone's "field of gold" whatever that imagery might mean to them. Peace.

WOW! Once again you and Mr. Kirschner nailed it! Maybe it’s because my wonderful hubby/soul mate and I just saw Sting in concert and heard this song and others that just stirred every soul in the venue. And along with your words of the need for refuge in this world of ours that has had a dark genie unleashed by an evil greedy selfish tyrant, one can’t help but fall in love with this song as it washes healing over our hearts, souls, minds and hurting world to remind us…there is more good, more light, more grace, more kindness, more morality and decency than not,

We just must remain steady. Thank you again!

Although familiar with this song from popular airplay, I never knew the story behind the lyrics. Thanks for the closer look.

I decided to take a break & listen to another perfect Dan Rather music recommendation. I had been listening to Ari Melber talking about Cheese & Kraken's take down of the orange putz of the one man criminal enterprise formerly known as the comb over king of the failed grift. I was ready for sweetness, light and Sting. What i wasn't ready for were the tears. Listening to Sting with the attention that should be paid this exquisite piece of poetry, I became aware of the tears running down my cheeks. Not sad tears, but enlightened ones. i was hearing Fields of Gold for the first time, with an open heart. So I want to thank you Mr. Rather. I didn't realize my soul needed that. :)

Thank you for remembering Eva Cassidy. Each one of her entire, and unfortunately way too small, play-list of songs are rendered beautifully. I recommend them all https://evacassidy.org/
