When they tell you who they are....believe them. Project 2025 tells us everything they plan to do. Our job is to make sure they never get the chance.

And very importantly, it often tells us how they plan to do it.

It's very much spelled out and beyond frightening. As the lying felonious weasel continues to deny any knowledge of this proposed anti American fascist nightmare, many of us are fully aware of what's at stake here as his GOP cronies continue to dot the i's and cross the t's. We can stop this tho and it's up to us to hit the polls in numbers that will hopefully start weakening the demented MAGA movement and send Trump out of the picture and back in the courtroom.

Expand full comment

And we need to let the unaware, head in the sand folks know how real this is. I don't know how much Liz Cheney's PAC or Republicans for the Rule of Law/Defending Democracy folks are doing with their base that seems to be more Republicans than I think other groups' base may be. And all veteran's groups need to be making every veteran aware of what this means for them. It's bad enough to have trump be their commander in chief since he disrespects them so much, but (hard to believe) will be even worse with the 2025 plan in place.

Expand full comment

Cheney is her father's daughter. Just because she, thankfully, opposed Trump, do not think she doesn't subscribe to many of the 2025 goals, which have been around in the Republican community for decades.

Expand full comment

Very true. But for now hopefully she will help defeat trump. Then we will have to see what she does! When trump is defeated will the GOP quickly reorganize around the likes of Cheney? Who knows. With so many polls showing that so many Americans support "liberal" policies like better gun control the right to abortions, believe the climate crisis is real, want the rich to pay more taxes, oppose gerrymandering, that the majority support same sex marriage, I don't know what the GOP has to run on except a policy of hate and exclusion and destroying the middle class and I guess we will see how much of that Cheney and her supporters support.

They believe this is their chance. Now is their time. They feel they need to make their move now because they won’t get a second chance. They know that the last republican presidential candidate to win the popular vote was 20-years ago. This is why they’re working so hard to manipulate the 2024 results. The Founders may have thought the electoral college was important +200-years ago but it isn’t any longer.

Even their own policy research tells them the majority of people do not like their policies. They don’t care.

We need to vote. We need to be absolutely sure our voter registration is active before November. If you can vote early, do it! We need democrats in the White House and in Congress so we can work on change that the majority of Americans want and deserve.

Expand full comment

Also from what I understand the republicans are and have been now for awhile removing voter registration for democrats. It states that we should check our registration every week up until the week of voting and if you need to register, go into your local office and register there and hand it back to the clerk. Do not try to do this online. They have that set up to prevent it

Expand full comment

I read recently that it's illegal to purge anyone from the voter rolls less than 90 days before an election. But I wouldn't rule out somebody trying to do that. I plan to vote as early as possible so I don't have keep worrying about being de-registered.

In last election for governorship in GA then sos Kemp who was running for governor's office and shouldn't have been able to continue as sos to certify his own "win" removed 100k voters and won by 50k!

Texas is removing at a fast pace and have come up something like provisional vote, and which are never counted as most voters don't know that they have to follow up by visiting elections' office with proof of ID fir their provisional vote to be counted.

Even when Democrats win in such numbers that these tactics shouldn't work the next step will be for the rethugs and election deniers in some states will refuse to certify the legitimate results and we don't need to even imagine what rethugliCons in congress will do to not let Democrats in their elected positions.

Federal law says every state has provisional ballots. The exceptions are a couple states with same day registration.

The most important thing for voters is probably having the required ID when they go to vote. People need to check their registration and if there is a problem after the registration deadline look up their state’s law on provisional ballots. Here is a list of states and deadlines for “curing” ballots so they will be counted — as of January.

Louisiana is attacking mail in ballots, specifically those of elderly voters. Each one must have a "witness". For example, I live alone in my own home and should (in my opinion) be able to fill out, sign, and return my ballot--no help needed--and be done. However, Louisiana requires a witness to my signature, so, I must wait for someone to come by and sign it before I can mail or drop it off. The latest scheme by our esteemed Sec. Of State Nancy Landry and cohorts is that only one absentee ballot can be witnessed by a person. So, if I were married and both of us voted through absentee ballots, our son could only witness ONE of our ballots. One of us would have to wait for a different "witness". The impact of this new law on people in nursing homes will be enormous, preventing many people from being able to vote, which, of course, is the intent of Louisiana’s right-wing Republicans.

Expand full comment

I read about the LA laws. Very complicated.

A disability advocacy group filed a lawsuit. Don’t know where it stands but you might double check on whether a close relative can be a witness on more than one ballot.

“Act No. 302 by Kleinpeter and Act No. 712 by Rep. Polly Thomas, R-Metairie. Similar in effect, both measures make it a crime for anyone to be the witness on an absentee ballot for more than one person who isn’t an immediate family member”

From as far back as Reagan and Gingrich days, they have been planning this takeover of our Democracy; however, I don't think they were counting on so many of us having the intelligence to see what they were doing! They pushed it too fast and it has literally turned off voters, many of them republicans! The far-right MAGAs moved the ball too fast and the white evangelicals did the same! They no longer fit the old school political definition of “conservative” (small, less government size and spending) when their so-called “small government” is large enough to be invasive in your homes, bedrooms and doctors offices, needs new and large shadow agencies to tract pregnancies, hospital visits, travels across state lines, what you read and watch, and why you haven’t attended the mandatory church to which you’ve been assigned. The spending won’t go down so much as sifted. More for the military-industrial complex but sifted away from European and Middle Eastern theatres to China and the border with Mexico. Less for real public schools and universities but vouchers for church run schools and for profit colleges. (Some of this will be implemented at the state level.). Less money for people and lower socioeconomic areas with tax cuts for the morbidly wealthy. Corporate welfare is okay with them.

— And in discussing the protests and riots around the US in the wake of the murder of George Floyd in 2020, Vought said that the president had the ability to use the military to restore order. He argued that the commander-in-chief wasn’t limited by the Posse Comitatus Act, a nearly 150-year-old law that prevents federal troops from conducting civilian law enforcement except when authorized by law.

“The President has, you know, the ability both along the border and elsewhere to maintain law and order with the military,” Vought said. “And that’s something that, you know, it’s going to be important for, for him to remember and his lawyers to affirm.” —

I wouldn’t say so much difficult as I would say the assumption that can come with being a white male (of which I am one) in certain circumstances and locations. I think we have all noticed the stereotypical characteristics of the white males seen at Trump rallies and similar political events. My daughters, whom both live in upper-middle class coastal California “Blue” areas, will tell me even if someone (usually male) doesn’t have that Trump rally physical appearance, as soon as that person opens their mouth, you’ll know it. I’m in a purple area and notice that too. I have an advantage of not fitting the physical appearance stereotype, but old enough, gray hair enough, and a gray beard that I can fake it and listen in, knowing they have no idea who they are talking to. It helped to have spent decades in a career field dominated by conservative businessmen and narrow minded people. For the record, I fall in the progressive left wing of the politisphere.

The thing about Trump is: he lies, he makes stuff up. Personally, I think a lot of the time he doesn't even know that what he is saying just ain't so. I think he lives in the gilded cage at Mar a Lago that's bigger, and more gilt covered than anything he has previously had but, the thing is, he was born with a gold spoon in his mouth. His social interactions with the common-man are limited to his chauffeur, caddy, or waiters. There is no way in God's Green Earth that he will propose policies that are good for the average Jane/Joe. He will follow advisers to the billionaires. He will follow what he's been told by Project 2025 authors, by the Koch Brothers, by Peter Thiel and Steven Schwarzman. Anyone who thinks this is not the case really needs to wake up, smell the coffee, and for Heaven's sake, vote Blue down the line in November. If you're a Republican but wavering, swear to yourself that you'll vote red in 2028. Just don't vote for the charlatan living behind the curtain in Mar a Lago.

Expand full comment

Good analysis, now that you've pointed it out, it seems obvious that all he wants is attention, he wants to be admired and important, especially to the very rich. His whining appeals to the lowest socioeconomic category because it justifies their lot in life. They were robbed. It's not fun to be one of the bottom group, self-esteem demands a Trump like justification. Don't bother me with facts, just let me feel good about myself.

Expand full comment

And, it's likely that he actually can't achieve that sense of feeling good about himself, given how damaged he is. Thus he has to keep seeking it out, especially from strong men leaders, who are similar to his father. It's likely that his father humiliated him as a kid, and never gave him what he needed, to be loved and admired. So he subjects the country to the same treatment of being called names, dismissed, being lied to, shouted at and shouted down, as he probably got as a child.

Expand full comment

Perhaps. The important thing is that as a man he needs to behave as a self-assured adult but does not.

Expand full comment

Interesting, but I suspect the opposite. I think he got too much attention as a child. A typically spoiled rotten kid of the newly rich. I see a man addicted and craving approval from anyone he considers high status. He can't even make it through the night without reaching out with some rant calculated to get likes from his followers. Turns out that the corporate press will publish all of his garbage to fill column inches cheaply, and that has convinced some that he really is important.

Expand full comment

His handlers continually find they cannot control him, probably the reason most of the nonsense he proposed was let go by them in his term. They stuck with his Build the Wall, while whittling away the economy, monetizing covid, and getting the biggest tax cut for their masters imaginable. He can't stay on message now and to their dismay could well loose the election (a good). More than an existential threat in his hands. Project 2025 has a basis in conservative thinking going back to Rove and Reagan. In Trump’s hands, the execution would be chaos, selecting from week to week whichactionable and what loyalists have his blessing to implement, with his adaptations drawn from his revenge book. The smooth transition to nationalism as these neo throwbacks to pre Civil War American would result in an implosion of federal government. States be aware the catastrophe awaiting his taking the royal reigns of the former American democracy.

If he found a job and went to work and still did not get the respect he feels he deserves from his family, he might want to consider counseling to get at the root of the problem. Most of all, he should understand that the rich man truly does not deserve any respect. He cheated on his wives, treated his family as objects to enrich him in some way and then wants to claim to be the victim.

They will have no power over our lives if we keep them out of all elected offices and enact legislation to strengthen democracy and prevent the United States from becoming a christofacist nation. It will take time yes but the first step as the danger is so great is to make sure trump never gets near the oval office again, and give Madame President the votes she needs to strengthen democracy and stop Christofascism from having any power over our lives. SC expansion is key to freedom and I will vigorously support that as the first order of business. There's a bill in Congress but Mike Johnson refuses to even put it on the floor.

Such an important point. This agenda has been forefront since Reagan and even before, as pointed out by Heather Cox Richardson in her Letters from an American and Democracy Awakening book. The 1937 Conservative Manifesto called for tax cuts and cuts to social welfare, “state’s rights” and local self government. This is not new, and we must be vigilant now and for the foreseeable future

Expand full comment
founding

It goes back further than that. In 1828, Andrew Jackson’s soon to be VP, Senator John C. Calhoun of South Carolina wrote an anonymously published pamphlet titled “Exposition and Protest” that laid the groundwork for the states rights/ nullification theory. The spread of the concept that states rights included the right to overrule any federal law that infringed on that state’s rights. That of course lead to over 30 years of growing instability in our nation, culminating with the Civil War. History has shown that the “nullifiers” believed that many thought they were protecting the individual freedoms guaranteed under the Constitution from an “overreaching” federal government. And the juxtaposition of all this is that 2025 and the MAGA crowd want to make the federal government supreme and trump their supreme leader.

Expand full comment

I don’t think these guys are very interested in states rights or local rule except when it is a talking point for them. Their blueprint is the ‘how to’ for what he haphazardly tried to accomplish during his term.

“Vought’s guiding principle, he said, was simple: What would Donald do?” But the agenda goes further with their white christian nationalist focus - changing the religious right wing from focusing on “religious liberty” to becoming a christian nation.

“He said that conservatives should push to have debates over whether to allow mosques to be built in America’s downtowns, and whether Christian immigrants should be prioritized over those of other faiths – ideas that run contrary to First Amendment protections.

“I want to make sure that we can say we are a Christian nation,” Vought added later. ”

Thank you for the link. The video and articles such as CNN’s should be front and center on MSM, but that won’t ever happen.

If you google vought, project 2025 or something similar, you’ll see tons of reporting on the interview. Someone’s been getting the word out or Donnie wouldn’t be so unhappy & try to divorce himself from it.

It seems that the more people who hear about it & the specific policies, the more it is disliked. Something for everyone to detest.

Thank you once again for bringing the truth to the forefront. How do we get the media to report this factually?? There is little hope for the US if Trump regains the Presidency!

Joy Reid is talking about it this evening. Lots of news outlets have reported on the interview. None of them had positive headlines about it. Headlines are often all people read.

CNN did a very long article and I ran across a video of their reporting on air.

Your words should be spread throughout the country in every form of media available. Those who need to see it most will never know the truth. The MAGA folks interviewed on TV never know anything but that Trump will return our country to what it has never been. In his delusional world he has convinced his sycophants that his way is the only way....................which it is; the only way to hell. They literally worship a dystopian, delusional, demented autocratic wannabe whose mentor is a fictional cannibal!!! Let's hope that the Harris/Walz ticket prevails as it is the only way to preserve our democratic republic. Cotton Mather would feel right at home in Trump world!!

" On Truth Social, Trump posted, “I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it"

He sounds like Sgt. Schultz of the TV series "Hogan's Heroes" - I know nothing, I see nothing. The only problem is that in Trump's case, he knows plenty about it and if he hasn't seen it, he's had it read to him or how would he already know to implement its tenets? Of course he will adopt it as his own. He's without insight and is lazy, so this is a ready-made agenda for him to take on. Woe are we if we let this man get elected in November. We would rue the day.

Kevin Roberts calls what they did “trumpifying conservatism.” The whole thing is built around things DJT proposed, blabbed about & / or tried to enact. Only power interests him so he never made plans to do them. Besides he thought government ran itself.

For instance replacing civil service workers. He created Schedule F by executive order to do that but it was met with resistance and was too late in his term to accomplish it. Biden revoked it and Office of Personnel Mgt created new rules and regulations to prevent something like that from being enacted in the future.

NYT and Deseret reported last year that trump had been briefed on P2025. NYT specifically stated Kevin Roberts said so. Other candidates and/or their staff were briefed also including Pence & Haley. The NYT article was published 4/23/23:

— Heritage Foundation Makes Plans to Staff Next G.O.P. Administration

No matter the Republican, the effort has set a goal of up to 20,000 potential officials in a database akin to a right-wing LinkedIn. —

That will help, and it's a beginning to the safeguards that we need to have in place.

Depending on who controls Congress, the safeguards could be made protected from future presidents or erased.

That is a definite concern.

BOL!! My thought exactly & I was considering copying a picture of Sgr Schultz and pasting it into an outline of PAB’s ‘hair’.

Trump has insisted that his only post-election agenda is Agenda 47, but Agenda 47 differs in few substantive ways from Project 2025. So even if his claims that he's not being guided by Project 2025 were true (they're not), those claims would be meaningless.
