I couldn't regret having to say this more but, to answer your question Dan...No, I don't believe anyone can save America at this point.

Despite giving rhe GOTP EVERYthing they ask for in the last 40, years in the way of border reform, we do nothing to stop Trumps thugs from dooming countless immigrants, our country NEEDS right now, to unnecessary suffering and in many cases to DEATH by refusing to sign the border bill to OBEY TRUMP!

At this point, there is little doubt their willingness to let Trump's buddy Putin walk over OUR ALLIS in Ukraine killing who the hell KNOWS how many more hundreds of thousands of innocent people...with all of Eueope next?!

We'll never know how many AMERICAN WOMEN the Supreme Court has killed and will continue to kill with their Abortion ruling, subjugating the survivors for the rest of their lives...then, JUST TODAY, they did sumpin I never thought I'd live to see the day when they had the balla to PROVE TO THE WORLD just how corrupt the entire court has become when they decided to HEAR TRUMP'S IMMUNITY BULL SHIT CASE!!! With no doubt WHATSOEVER they have denied all Americans the right to know if Trump is a CONVICTED FELON...forever. Not only insuring the tha MAIN MAN responsible for the deaths of several people and law enforcement officers in his attempt to OVER THROW OUR GOVERNMENT will NOT go to court before the election, he will not be brought to justice...FOREVER!

So you REALLY THINK that those terrorist will EVER accept the results of the NEXT election? In rhe BEST case they will push it into the same corupt court that is HELPING TRUMP BECOME OUR FIRST DICTATOR RIGHT NOW!?

I have a question for YOU DAN...

Just what the HELL is left to save?

catman...isya

PS...I can't in my wildest dreams think of a way that I could ever feel more ashamed to BE an American, I stopped calling myself an American as of today.

Everything this country has ever held dear has been sold to insure this entire nation bends it's knee to Trump...the Teflon Con.

Pathetic...nothing short of pathetic.

The rot starts with Dan Rather and Times New Roman.

*Why?* would you even suggest that we all pile on behind the Forced Birther Liz Cheney? Until Liz understands that any ban harms women, it’s thank you for doing your job when you were supposed to but there’s no free lunch here. Sorry Dan. I like your work but you older white men are just oblivious to womens’ needs, so why don’t you just sit out on the porch until you figure it out. We’re not waiting anymore.

Is it crazy that although I don’t care for ultraconservative political stances I am so in admiration for Liz Chaney that I’d actually consider voting for her? She has exemplified what the G in GOP used to stand for.

Great idea. I love it.

Any alliance of good, solid minded persons would be a plus for the US.

Anyone who can not see what someone like Trump would do to this country is already brain washed so half way to an authoritarian dictator led country. My parents used to say, you can tell a person by the company they keep. Trump gets nothing but big smiles from Putin. Wake up people before its too late. If Trump wins, it will be the last fair election for the USA. And maybe even the last election at all.

No what?

The answer to the question - promoting Liz Cheney as a sane alternative to Trump only makes the elites look as desperate as they are and Taylor Swift is irrelevant.

I LIKE it!

I LIKE it a lot!!

Yabbut…..who the HECK is Taylor Swift? From MY perspective - 68 yrs old, rock music addict - a Boomer - retired journalist who has covered the entertainment beat and interviewed names like McCartney, Baez, Adams and Hart, this flouncy Barbie-type chic is a plastic explosion. I couldn’t identify a noise of hers for my life! I suspect her fan army comprises a thin strata of voters - teenage girls - who generally don’t vote. So WTF?

Her popularity and influence can get many young people to vote. You don't have to know her music to know she is a force for good.

WTF? Taylor Swift is far more than her art. Sorry you are so oblivious. I’m 66 and even I can see how she leads with her deeds. Why don’t you read the newspaper on the porch with Mr Rather and try to puzzle it out.

As Dylan once sang, 'get out of the old road if ya can't lend your hand for the times they are a changin'.

You work with what you've got, not what you want.

You have the right to like whatever music you like. This is about our country and its future not your musical preference. And these young people will be here long after you and I are long gone.

Greetings Gina,

From the earliest days of Dylan’s fame there was a significant block of not-so-sure “fans” who dug his music but not his weird singing voice and his tendency to sometimes be moody onstage. I was one of those not-sure fans. Nevertheless, over 60 years of songwriting and performing Dylan has managed to integrate the rough edges into the whole, proving that, after all he was just a human with faults to be worked. His core musicality shone through it all.

The thing that makes me laugh at newbies like Taylor Swift ( and, in her own time, Madonna) is the Heavenly Perfect GREAT HUGE SHOW , the stage filled up with dancers and various gyrators . What? Can’t she sing WITHOUT her army of flashy, sexy dancers? Madonna in her time made the scene in similar fashion: first came the highly-produced music videos for MuchMusic TV; then came glittery, leathery slutty outfits, then came the circus act of dancers, pretty boys, high-wire acts, etc etc. THEN. She was caught lip-synching!

I hardly call these two girlies top artists. Take away their gigantic productions, and see how great they are. Ms. Swift would be a tiny, lost little voice on a big wide stage. Nobody would pay to see her!

The point I am making demarks the dividing line between popular music appreciation of Gen X, Y, Z fans, who go for lots of glitzy sequins, hundreds of sexy gyrating bodies and fake- music synthethesizer noise, and Boomers’ preference for real, actual, unadorned music sung and played live by real human beings on real musical instruments and the heartfelt sound of real human singing voices.

We Boomers DID, however, play with Barbie and Ken ( and G I Joe ) dolls in our early childhoods. Then popular music came on the screen bursting with talented artists who didn’t need a circus act around them onstage to get their music across. Our music was human-made and honest talent. Your music is a weird cross between densoid hip hop and Super Bowl Midtime show spectacular. You prefer artificially hyper engineered circus acts - with a silly over-dressed singer somewhere in the mix.

I’m honestly sad for your generation for missing out on the renaissance of Sixties and Seventies, and to- a degree Eighties music. You missed a very special time in popular culture.

I am not sure where you intended to go with this comment but I am not of this generation coming up in our society.

Every generation has its heroes. I had Dylan, PPM, John Lennon, etc.

And as Dylan wisely said, " so don't criticize what ya can't understand, get out of the new road if ya can't lend you hand, for the times they are a'changin."

Liz Cheney was very brave, her world is politics. I always appreciate when celebrities like Taylor Swift, not necessarily a political activist, use their enormous platforms to speak out and I hope she continues to do so - getting out the vote but also endorsing candidates who speak for the values and policies she seems to support. Where this will have a huge impact would be in her own state of TN where Rep. Gloria Johnson is running against Sen. Marsha Blackburn.

Now there's a ticket even a Democrat could vote for. Cheney/Swift 2024

Please, no more 'celebrity' officers of our government.

Reagan and Trump have done so much damage already. Just because one is progressive does not qualify them to run for top of the ticket.

I am so thankful for the example of Taylor Swift and her encouragement to get out to vote. So many take voting for granted.
