I so much value your “look-backs” as well as your “look-a heads” and your “look-nows”. Please keep sharing. They sustain me.

Thank you for the insightful essay on Trump's inauguration. It truly was a frightening day for me and my mixed-race family. I would love to see more writing from the past, whether prescient (as this one was) or not.

Dan Rather: I see an establishment that went berserk with the fear of investigation - what Trump was threatening with his "drain the swamp". I see a blinding storm of lies escalating into a global sweep to stop dissent, speech, and to obfuscate reality with disease and war.

And now we see that the ominous, gut-wrenching feeling many of us experienced was prescient. Your description of that day is a reminder of how much can go very wrong in a relatively short time. It will require dedication and commitment to prevent Trump from returning to the White House. As unimaginable as it is, so it was before.

I like the idea of looking back from time to time, especially for historical context. It isn't always a pleasant stroll down Memory Lane, but we can become complacent when we forget.

It was, indeed, a dark day, both visual and temporal. Much unrest, not for Americans only, but for the world of all peoples. Heavy we’re our Hearts. It doesn’t feel over yet. Still, something pressing on our Hearts and Minds. Separations, Division. Compulsory behavior and actions, based on Need and Want, some Selflessly, some for self alone- Greed, negates Sympathy, Empathy and Love. Nothing But Desire Creates Conflict. What do you desire?

Looking back at tRump is better than having to look forward to tRump. It reminded me of a lot of resentment, despair, and the closer 2024 gets to me the more restless I become. Not again, damn??

It is useful to look back from time to time. The present becomes clearer. And sometimes we are humbled.

I really like the look back. We should be reminded of such unique moments then think how these events have shaped our todays. Hopefully it will help us learn both good and poor choices make a difference for future times.

I think sometimes it is good to look back. This moment you shared brought back all of the angst I felt that day- and continue to feel since he is still spreading the big lie about the 2020 election. I have trouble feeling a sense of hope even now.

I love this idea of revisiting these “moments in time “. There is much we can learn by reflection. It gives us a chance to look back with the lens or context of more information or life lived and evaluate our ideas

/opinions on experiences.

I do like the "moment in time" idea, although like so many others here I spent this particular moment in stunned and heartsick disbelief that my fellow Americans actually chose this damaged dumpster fire of a man to represent our nation. Even worse was watching over the next four years as the people who were supposed to hold him accountable to the American people instead supported, encouraged, and enabled his terrible behavior in pursuit of their own partisan agendas. This administration ruined my faith that our elected representatives are generally acting in service to the country. Possibly I should be grateful that my eyes have been opened, but mostly I'm just sad that it turns out so many in power are in it for the good of "their side" instead of the good of America.
