I've saved this in my substack inbox. I come back to it every now and again. The "video" is very powerful. A movie, really. Thank you so much for sharing it. I wouldn't have thought to look for it.

Seattle Elton John concert 1973, the first notes played and the entire Key Arena hushed. Rocket Man played to a silent packed arena. I can’t express how we felt “and it’ll be a long long time.”

Beautiful! Sir Elton totally deserves all the awards that makes up ERGOT. I would hope there’s something comparable for Bernie Taupin! Thank you for finding and sharing!

Just loved this one Dan! Elton John, ohhhh my,… there are those musicians, those bands, those voices and words and phrasings, notes & songs and albums, that when they come on the radio or your turntable, you are transported, catapulted in time, in a place, what memories!…Elton and Bernie were right up there, every song brings me to a time, a face and place… although we may never experience another Elton performance, his and their music is forever there…and hopefully more to come… music is absolute magic✨❤️🫶🏼❣️🎶🎹🎶🥰🙏🏼☮️✨🕊️

Truly love your Substack, and every single song Elton John ever sang.... I always find myself playing an imaginary piano whenever I hear this lovely song. But this video? Hmmm...enjoyed the cuts from the film, Almost Famous, a little better, to be honest.

Another Elton John favorite of mine on Tumbleweed Connection is "Love Song" written by Leslie Duncan. It's right up there with "Imagine" by John Lennon. I would pipe those two songs into every MAGA brain on an endless loop if I could.

LOVE SONG

The words I have to say

May well be simple but they're true

Until you give your love

There's nothing more that we can do

Love is the opening door

Love is what we came here for

No one could offer you more

Do you know what I mean?

Have your eyes really seen?

You say it's very hard

To leave behind the life we knew

But there's no other way

And now it's really up to you

Love is the key we must turn

Truth is the flame we must burn

Freedom the lesson we must learn

You know what I mean

Have your eyes really seen?
