Mr. Rather, I've come to very much anticipate and appreciate your Sunday morning essays and "Reasons to Smile"...along with everything else you write. Thank you for remaining a ray of light and integrity during this seemingly endless moment of existential crisis in America.
I have long been an admirer of Alison Krauss, and both of her albums with Robert Plant are absolutely amazing. Her music indeed is a reason to smile!!! Thank you for highlighting her!
"Raising Sand" is one of my all-time favorite albums. Alison Kraus and Robert Plant create simply ethereal harmonies in many of the songs. How wonderful, Mr. Rather, that you are also a fan!
Several years ago, I discovered a live performance by Alison Krauss on YouTube of the Vince Gill song 'Whenever You Come Around'. It has become my favorite Alison Krauss song of all time. She has never put this on an album that I know of, perhaps to not steal Vince Gill's thunder since he had a hit with it.
I haven't listened to much of Alison Krauss' song music, but her along with Robert Plant is magical. In fact, their album Raising Sand is one of my favorites.
I had no idea that she has won so many Grammys! Krauss' voice is pure and versatile and I love the collaboration with the wonderful Robert Plant. They do, indeed, make beautiful music together. My thanks to Dan!
I absolutely love Allison Kraus, her voice is so very unique. It’s a voice which draws you into the song, into the story. And she is one heck of a storyteller. To witness her in concert is a joy, to be in that light that she shines so bright. When she and Robert Plant hooked up for Raising Sand, indeed their voices, their harmonies just are so textured and flow…I was so thankful they got together again for yet another beautiful album…I can’t wait to see them both in concert!….thank you Dan for another reason to smile on a weekend❣️🎶🎶🎶🎤🎼🎤☺️
What a great way to start my day up here. I watch the film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" for the music every now and then. Alison Kraus hits the notes right on and on and on... Thanks. "Down In The River To Pray" gives me goosebumps!
That song reminds me of the Christian church music that would be sung in Black churches across America. It’s melancholy and hopeful. I’m not a person of prayer but I’m praying for America and the world to come together for the sake of peace.
Good Morning Austin, TX…..⭐️thank you for that peppy and elating little concert. 🎻🎶🎫🗽
Great way to bring some great thoughts to a Sunday morning. Never 👎 would have thought 💭 those two 2️⃣ could work so well together. Good for them and better for us.
What a wonderful Sunday smile. Her voice is ethereal and you can feel the emotion she is conveying. One of my favorites is The Wexford Carol with Yo Yo Ma. Thanks for this today.
Thank you , Dan, for sharing Allison Krauss's beautiful voice with us this morning. It is a balm for my soul. My favorite album of hers is Now That I've Found You, which I fell in love with over 20 years ago and still love today, especially her rendition of the Beatles' I Will and Keith Whitley's When You Say Nothing At All. Thank you for all you do to help sustain us through these turbulent times and Thank You to the Strady community for always giving me a reason to hope when I read the comments each week.💕

I saw them perform a couple of years ago and they were amazing. I’ve always been a fan of both of them. Their voices complement each other’s style.

Alison Krause’s voice is so pure and ethereal, yet powerful. Surely, this is like listening to angels singing.
I have also often thought that Alison’s voice must sound like voices singing in heaven.
Thank for this, and for the Alison Krauss YouTube hole I went down.
My chamber group (tubas and euphoniums) plays a great version as well. (Not nearly as well as this group from the UTA does)

You must try the O Brother soundtrack. Love the movie, too!
Oh, I have that too and love it.

Beautiful, thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful weekend!
If I could hear angels singing, they would sound just like Alison Krauss. Happy birthday to an absolute icon. And thank you, Mr. Rather.
