Thank you for another insightful article. You cleared up some questions I had, and, as always left me with realistic hope and not Pollyanna thinking.

Yes, this is evidence of progress. I would like to understand better how this law will affect states that still discriminate, and how it may affect future SCOTUS decisions. Thank you for your balanced piece.

So important, for so many people, friends, and relatives. Love...who can be opposed to that?

Did you notice the sad news in Indonesia, one of my favorite places? Some really backward legislation on sex. Premarital and extramarital sex to be illegal. Jail time! I was looking to have a winter place there. No longer think so. I thought things were looking up, but apparently not! International investment will take a big pause, as they were looking forward to advancing. Craziness.

Because of my extensive experience in psychotherapy, I have determined the main problem with this subject is as follows. "Kanye West is like an Ostrich without a head to put his hole in." Being dyslexic, that makes perfect sense, and it says a lot no matter how you look at it. A-ye

When I was younger and dreams were things to be sought after I wanted to meet that special someone that would fulfill my life. Around the time those dreams became particularly hard to find a song by Jim Croce aired on the radio. If you ever get the chance sit back and listen to "Time in a bottle." It stood for everything that was out there but existed just out of reach. Life is all but over and sadly I never found her. The bottle remains empty.

My husband and I will celebrate our 32 year anniversary. Our wedding anniversary is 10 of those years. My husband is 86 and I am 58. My family love him but still have an issue with our relationship. Most of them are supporters of the previous guy.

I moved overseas 23 years ago in part because I didn’t trust the US to accept my life. Tiny steps forward, backward, forward. There are people who have been (unfairly) given too much power over people who most Americans aren’t worried about AT ALL. Also, rainbow story time with drag queens promotes positive mental health, happiness and literacy. All needed right now.

This is good news we just need to make sure it doesn’t get side-railed along the way. Hopefully it won’t end up being 2 steps forward and three steps back. We still have rode versus wade to become law

Just like the Nazis in pre-WWII, hating those who do not reflect the stated social mores of those in power.

Yes this is nice. But I wonder if politicians and pundits wonder what it's like to have their fundamental rights routinely up for debate. I wonder if they ever think about young people growing up in an age in which powerful adults get massive platforms to deny their right to exist, to be safe, to love whom they love, including themselves. Do they have a clue how their cynical use of our existence to score political points does actual harm to the mental, physical and spiritual health of millions of citizens, not necessarily because they hate how we love, but because they can win elections by encouraging others to hate how we love? I really want to live in hope. But it's exhausting.

Unfortunately the bill applies only in states that the marriage was performed. If your state doesn't have the law written into its Constitution, I believe that the law is not valid there. I expect that there will be laws forbidding it will be passed in Republican majority states to prevent the law form being applied and SCOTUS has already said they intend to forbid it as well.

You might want to read the entire law or just reread this article.

In this country we need Evolution on all levels. Spiritual, Educational, Social, and Personal change comes from within. The willingness to accept ourselves in the present, past, and future, depends upon our choices from moment to moment.

A moment to celebrate! So many barriers overcome in this bipartisan vote! Perhaps we’ll see more of that as Republicans reject the right wing , bigoted, fringe! Let’s hope!

Yes! I’m still bewildered by the notion that the GOP sight Religious Freedom as their main objection to the passing of this law!

I grew up going to the Catholic church, which, if I remember correctly, is still a part of a Christian sect, but I never believed in the teachings of the Bible as it didn’t have any written words penned By Jesus (The Christ) Himself. His life story always resonated with me. It is who he was and how he behaved that draws me to being the man I am today, Loving, Accepting, Empathic, and a Fighter for Justice in God’s name, but not by pushing my beliefs on anyone else. If I don’t like being around a person's energy or being in a place heavy with negativity, I ask myself, “What would Jesus do?”

I remove myself and send love and blessing their way.
