What really mystifies me is how the radical Right continue to either ignore or downplay the Insurrection of Jan 2021. I watched it replayed last night on CNN and it sickened me. I don't know what kind of Kool-Aid Trump gave the Radical Right, but they are still delusional and angry . ..because of that I fear that our great Nation and our

Capitol are still vulnerable to Right Wing extremists.

Come on all ostriches time to pull your head from the sand and recognize the truth. It was a insurrection and a failed coup.

To me, this act was nothing less than outright treason; these people sought to undo presidential election results, and it doing so, they violently broke into the Senate Chamber in an effort to block the process of officially counting the electoral votes, a democratic process that has been sanctioned and followed by this nation since near its inception. They also directly threatened the lives of the Speaker of the House, and the Acting Vice President, including setting up "hanging stations" outside the building in preparation. If this isn't a treasonous act, I do not know what is.

It continues to divide us because one party continues to downplay it and continues to spread the big lie. They want to tear this country apart from the inside out and it’s a crime being perpetrated in front of us. I am sure most Republican voters and I mean non-MAGA voters did not vote for this. They don’t want the federal government dismantled- they know the chaos that will ensue. They did not vote for that - they did not vote for the chaos that occurred the last few days. It was downright shameful to watch these supposed adults act like children to get their way and the worst of them did. I can only hope that the sane ones vote with the democrats and keep things afloat for 2 years. I am thankful the house turns over every 2 years ….and thankful we have a majority in the senate at there are some grownups there..

I was horrified as I watched the events unfold on J6. It was hard to believe my eyes as I saw our Capitol building entered by a bunch of marauders. It was hard to believe that our President instigated this travesty. I firmly believe that they were given permission by his actions. I was alive for the assassination of Kennedy, and for 9/11 and felt the enormous disbelief at those, but never expected to witness the overrun of our Capitol. It is a shameful day in our country's history. I am hopeful that we can get back to the civility that once was in Washington, D.C

On another subject, the new speaker of the house made so many concessions. Are they recorded somewhere to use when he has a memory lapse on what he promised?

I think the House should elect Liz Cheney for Speaker. It just sounds so satisfying.

2 years ago today the insurrection took place at our Capitol. Yet their hasn't been accountability for Trump or members of the house and Senate,

that were involved or knew about the plan to attack the Capitol, and failed to inform any government officials. This is a tragedy that could of been prevented. It's completely frustrating to see Republican members of the House who were

involved in the insurrection, select McCarthy who was directly involved. It's literally disgraceful because moderate Republicans haven't stood up to defend the constitution. I just pray they select a

moderate Speaker. It's pathetic and tragic to the American people.

Barbara - May this phrase be replicated all over this country - the pairing of "Democracy" with "for the Common Good" makes a clear distinction and so, is powerful. Thank you for adding it. Makes a difference.

January 6, 2021 is a day that will live in infamy for our nation for as long as we exist. With more than 950 defendants arrested and many adjudicated, the Rule of Law is at work. However, there are other skunks still hiding in the hole that need to be flushed out and held accountable. For our nation to truly say the Rule of Law applies to all, Trump, Meadows, America’s former Mayor, Eastmen and others to be named, need to be indicted and tried. Members of Congress were complicit in this debacle and should be held to account also.

I still remember September, 1961, and your superlative live coverage of Hurricane Carla( live snakes and all). Seems like not much has changed in the news reporting business. Keep up the fine work.

Lest we forget! Treason is punishable by death. Yet no charges have been filed. Inciting a riot is also illegal and no charges have been filed. Is everyone afraid they might disappear like the officials who disagreed with a certain executive? If it had been you or I charging the White House with weapons drawn, we wouldn’t have passed the gate.
