Fifty years ago…I was in my mid-20’s…how can that be, Dan?

I remember the first time I heard this song. Sitting in Mountains of Food, Dexter, Maine. A little juke box at each booth. Wow. What a gift he gave us, and what a gift you gave us in sharing this sonic miracle.

Love the Saturday smiles.

As a Mom's Demand Action member, I sadly note that we lost Marvin to gun violence, at his own father's hand. #Enough

This is phenomenal, the isolated vocals for any Marvin Gaye track truly show much of great vocalist he was. "What's Going On" is a masterpiece track with Marvin doing has own vocal overdubs and all tracks . That would be a really great listen.

A great sound, Cappella singing is the love of Music, it takes inner talent. Enjoyable!

Awesome. Just...awesome. All that tone and feeling hidden behind the accompaniment.

Instead of shouting, we should be singing to each other.

My god he was a national treasure. He filled my teenage years full of joy and human rights. Both he and Sam Cooke wrote music to change the world. I miss them both.

Unbelievable. It not only gave me chills, the ache in his voice brought me to tears. What a tremendous loss. Thank you for sharing this.

PS I wonder if the same could be found for “What’s Going On”. Sadly, the lyrics have as much meaning today as they did decades ago.

you are so right, Maria! he was so ahead of his time, thoughtful, political, passionate.

How many voices had/have the range of sound and expression to be more powerful A Cappella than with instrumental backing and enhancement. Thank you Steady Team for posting both.

With or without music, a fantastic singer.

So hard to do this and stay on key! Marvin Gaye was one of the greats. It is such a shame he is gone.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful acapella version of Marvin Gaye singing “I heard it through the grapevine.”

Allow me to reciprocate: go to YouTube and search for “Grace Slick isolated vocals” and listen to “White Rabbit.”

I would have put the link here, but I don’t know how.

Whoa! White Rabbit has been one of my favorite songs since I first heard it on the radio, building and building to the powerful finish. But this, with just Grace's voice, is Power Full.

Wow is right - even more chilling without the instrumentals
