I see this as another example of their cowardice and lack of conviction. Instead of actually SAYING the F- word, they change it into something sophomoric. If you really feel that way, say the word. Say it loud, with confidence and own it. Don’t be childishly gleeful about your “subversion” (talking to you here Cancun Cruz). That whole party lacks the courage of their convictions. They don’t believe what they say and they don’t behave in a way that is commensurate to their beliefs and/or values. Because they believe in and value nothing. Also, PS - there are no “respectable” Republicans anymore. Even the ones who might be doing the right-ish thing now carry the blame for not speaking up back when they could have stopped some of this nonsense.

You absolutely nailed the core of the problem when you said “hateful speech has a way of becoming violent action.”

Let's not forget that the fish rots from the head down.

From the minute he rode down that escalator and called millions of people “rapists” and “murderers”, Trump gave permission to millions around the country to give voice to their hateful feelings.

And it only went downhill from there.

The violent insurrection of January 6 was entirely predictable. Hate speech leads to violent action.

Just look at what is happening at school board meetings around the country, on airplanes and even in grocery stores. People feel they have permission to respond violently rather than settle their differences with some civility.

The “civil” has disappeared from our public discourse. It is truly deplorable.
