What a lovely way to start Saturday morning, thank you. Brandi has been a long time favorite and still is so. Although I was not fortunate enough to be blessed with children, I do have a mother. She died five years ago, two days before Thanksgiving. I miss her every day, and it seems even more so during Thanksgiving. Brandi’s song reminded me of both the love and irreverent joy my mother brought to motherhood. Again, thank you, as usual, your timing is excellent! Have a wonderful weekend and holiday season!
Isn't Brandi just the best! She's a role model for gay, straight, trans, and even Republicans; but they will never comprehend what it's like to be the mother of Evangeline. Thanks for sharing her with us.
First I have seen or heard Brandi Carlisle. A lovely person in every way. Austin City Limits... it represents the very best part of Texas from my perspective. A wonderful venue for talent and inspiration and tolerance, over my many years of viewing. And yes, kids will do that to us, won't they?
Brought me to tears ..the love of a mother for her child, how our lives and worlds change..as a mother and grandmother as well as an RN who had the privilege of working in mother / baby the birth of every child is a miracle...
Lyrics rang so true. I remember the total exhaustion after delivering my babies, the weakness in my arms that were shaking so badly, I was concerned about dropping my newborns. My husband held our babies close to me, so I could see them. Only later in the day, could I cuddle and feel the joy that I had so looked forward to experiencing. My own mother was not wired for motherhood, just a woman who felt pressured to have children. Her anger and frustration interfered with her expression of love and caring toward her children. The care, comfort, and obvious love I shared with my own children was given freely and joyously in part based on what had been missing in my childhood. An extended joy comes from watching my grown children parent with love, compassion, and responsibility.
What a beautiful way to smile and almost shed a tear on a Saturday filled with gratitude. I am the father of Melinda and Stephanie, and cherish our annual Father-Daughter Retreats....
"Welcome to the end of being alone inside your mind
Tethered to another and you’re worried all the time
You always knew the melody but you never heard it rhyme." Perfectly sums up motherhood.

Beautiful song and her words ring so true. A smile and a tear for me as well. Family is everything, maybe a little messy at times but priceless
