It's pathetic for Barr to sit their and joke about how bonkers Trump's idea was, yet where was her? He knew that millions of MAGA dupes believed that lie, so why didn't he step up and appear in the media to refute the lie.

Meanwhile another lie goes unchallenged....the 2016 election was not fair, had many anomalies that have never been investigated, nor dealt with. For example, why did FBI partisan hack Comey not get fired in disgrace or charged with a crime for interfering in the election? The entire FBI should be investigated for corruption for him doing that.

When Trump called certain Governors and asked them to "find votes" that is a reference to how Ex-Gov Walker had stolen 5 (at least) elections for himself, Kleefisch, a recall that millions signed, and 2 seats, in two elections that actually belonged to Russ Feingold but was given to corrupt Ron Johnson. How did he do that? Well the Koch Bros have a money machine for Republicans to draw from, Reince Priebus, ect. On two occasions the Walker campaign initially lost a seat, Kleefisch suddenly came up with the exact number of votes to become the winner on her personal computer 7000+ votes. Not once, but twice this happened.

Now, there is no way in hell.....that was legit. Yet nobody did anything about it, to my disgust. This happened in two different elections. I don't believe in coincidences, but I definitely don't believe in two convenient votes found after they were losing by GOP candidates. That reeks of corruption.

Mr. Trump's actions showed the planet that we are a third world country. One that had a wannabe dictator for a president. This is NOT the Country whose Constitution I swore to "protect and defend", when I took my oath of office as an officer in the United States Air Force. And, it is not the Country that I was fighting for when I flew combat in Vietnam. January 6 made me ashamed to call myself an "American". I hope we can repair this grievous fault and become the leader in the World again.

I pray that Trump and all his cronies are made to pay for the injury to our country!

Thank you for leaving us with that wonderful quote

I agree that the former president and his abettors must be held accountable but I am concerned that we are missing that the "big lie" is being used by many politicians to sway future elections.

Trump and his family must be held accountable. They must face trial. Until he faces the consequences of leading a coup our nation will not completely heal.

I am a Scot living in Canada, therefore not directly involved in what occurred on Jan. 6th. However, I was shocked and horrified to see what happened. What was even worse was the reaction of the republican "leaders" who retracted their initial responses to this attack on democracy and went along with the supporters of the previous occupier of the White House. I hope and pray that the American people will open their eyes and ears to the irrefutable truths that are being laid out before them. If they can't or won't, they will be responsible for the fall of a once strong nation that stood for freedom and justice for all.

On that day I was horrified and scared at what was going on (seen on TV). Though I was a child at the time, the Cuban Missile Crisis and Nakita Krushcev (spelling?)

Love the quote, lord, is it true. As shocking and horrible as the attack on the capitol was, it pales when compared with the response of republican leaders after they had time to come up with their own big lie. At first, they spoke the truth, and pretended that no one heard them. Then their evil oozed out and the machinations began, expecting us all to roll over and play dead., while they destroyed our country. Well, they haven’t heard the last of the true patriots.

Hear! Hear! That old saying, “vote like your life depended on it”, was never truer than today! Vote!

In paragraph 2 on line 2 you say we must EVER forget. Think you meant NEVER.

I wish that politics would become sturdier (in general) so that destructive incidents like the 6th January 2021 never ever happen again. With stronger politics, incidents like the 6th January 2021 could not jeopardize the politics of an entire election, an entire country. Some people thought they could get away with that attack but as we can witness they did not. It`s good that we are past those threatening events we were watching from a distance but still, it hurt us deeply.

As hard as it is to hear and see the things that are being said and shown, I like the confidence I feel growing inside me, that at last, I'm finally learning what really happened on January 6, 2021 ... when Americans attacked their own Capitol. I knew it was bad, awful, terrible, heartbreaking in fact, and infuriating, but now I know it was much, much worse than I had thought.

I feel relief that these hearings are being guided by two careful and thoughtful stewards. Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson are credible and compassionate, and I believe and hope that at the end of these hearings, the seven part plan to overturn the vote will be laid out crystal clear and inarguable. I also hope, no matter how long it takes, that the sanitizing spotlight of truth will beam upon each person who participated, in any small or large way, in trying to execute that plan, and that they will be brought to justice. These hearings are vital to laying the groundwork for federal and state prosecutors to bring charges.

And oh, how I appreciate the steady voice of Dan Rather through this all.

I read today in a NY Times article that 9/11 and January 6th are two dates that will never need the year added for anyone to know what is being talked about.

I agree, the first date 9/11 was the day America was attacked from outside forces. January 6th was the day America was attacked by inside forces.

To me the difference in America peoples reaction to both events is both telling and disheartening. In the first event Americans banded together to take care of each other, people were kinder to one another for the most part. However, this I think is where the decent started in this country.

We had Islamic people killed out of fear and frustration and the rise against foreigners that were not white grew. One can trace a line from there to where we are today. It has branched out and grown and the country has become sick. So sick that our very democracy has been threatened with Tyranny.

I want my America back, I want all that helped Trump and Trump himself to be held accountable to the highest extent the law will allow. I want us to heal.

We do have the courage and the willingness to face our faults, bind our wounds and to heal divisions, if we truly believe in America and in the constitution of the United States. "We the people" want justice, we want accountability, and we want to return to civil discourse to discuss our differences and our common interests. It is time to return back to being kind, generous, giving and holding each other up to be successful. Greed has gone on way too long and we need to set term limits for House and Senate members, get rid of the filibuster rules and get rid of the electoral college. We have been held hostage by the minority for way too long...
