So, what? ... we the people can do nothing? Mid-terms aside, isn't breaking to law, breaking the law no matter who breaks it? Where are the enforcers of the law?

I'm surprised that I keep reading posts containing statements like "if the Democrats win the midterms". Watching your country from the middle of nowhere in the Pacific it's hard to imagine you will even have an election let alone the Democrats being allowed to win it. I suspect your democracy is going going gone foolishly let go by a lack of democratic safe guards and a naive belief that no one could be as corrupt and darn right evil as Trump and the billionaires who farm him. If the other corrupt measures to affect the vote don't work then a trumped up state of emergency called because of out of control Anfa communists will.

Going from anger to frustration on all the bone headed stuff that is happening to no avail. I think the biggest beaut was the reflecting pond that "HE" and his limo ruined but he blamed some other people saying they did things they didn't do. The MME on his birthday was a beaut as well. It's like he's not too worried about all the chaos and corruption he's creating but he should be IMHO. Thank you Dan for all you do to keep us informed.

Let me get this straight: are you saying that Trump is untouchable? Is it possible that he will not be taken out of the White House in handcuffs and have all of his assets removed from him and his criminal family and Associates?

Reminding all that "waste, fraud, and abuse" is the extraterrestrial MAGA code for US government projects and policies which benefit human beings.

[[In his second term, Trump has focused on raising his own income rather than elevating the average American’s. Over the past 18 months, Trump’s wealth has exploded. He has added an estimated $3 billion to his net worth, according to the Brennan Center for Justice.]]

This graf, or one very much like it, should be included as essential context high in any story about anything Trump that says that moves, or is likely to move, markets. Otherwise, what he does makes no damn sense.

Imagine that. The President starts a war without approval by Congress and his sons suddenly invest in a military drone manufacturer who gets a whopping big contract from the Pentagon. It follows one can surmise that it must be a sound scheme according for the President to sell upcoming policy announcements to other customers so they too can get in on the investment action. Just where do these pay- to - play fees go? One need not wonder too long.

I don't think we have ever seen such outrageous, immoral, in your face destruction of every aspect of our government and it's services as right now. The dismantling of every single thing that made us exceptional. I know our government has always been involved with some black bag stuff-probably from the beginning of our country, but we could count on some support of our welfare, with systems in place as some sort of safety net. We could count on the natural beauty of our country would be preserved. Every single thing that makes the US the dream across the world is being systematically destroyed for no other purpose than the act of destruction.

Hey Allison, well written but there are more deplorable purposes by Trump and the Republican/Maga cult. They have been able to spin their destruction as cutting out fake fraud in government. Trump and his family and billionaires that pay to play are benefitting greatly financially at the expense of American taxpayers. They are all traitors and with the enabling by a criminally corrupt Republican majority on the Supreme Court, they have muted the Constitution and the Judicial system. Seemingly there is no way to stop them until the midterms which they are already in the process of of rigging and muting. We will need a massive turnout voting in the midterms to hold them accountable. I'm 82, and a lifelong Dem, and I never thought this was possible, but sadly, I now think it can worse.

One thing to say: 25th amendment, people!

Abby From Maine's avatar

Absolutely! BUT the VP would have to grow a pair, and I don't foresee that happening :-/

That might be a good thing - ! In my view, it would be preferred to what we're dealing with now, and it well might get those other Republicans who cowtow to step up at last and put the country first over personal interests.

Thank you, Mr. Rather. Extremely important stuff. There's a term that applies to what he is doing -- influence peddling -- even if he and JD are exempt. Internationally, it is trading in influence. The folks who pay Truth Social will be buying influence -- and as the go-betweens for clients are also peddling influence with their connection. Therefore, they will not be exempt from criminal prosecution eventually if hoped-for sanity returns. I hope they keep that in mind, but I doubt it.

The Trump Crime Syndicate is in full swing, and just now hitting its stride. I hail those recording for posterity the offenses being committed as true Patriots of this nation. It's one heck of a job.
