“The End Game”… we will all know about, when we the people have been tapped dry. Monies= GONE! The US will be nearly bankrupt, depleted, 45&co will be laughing their way to the overseas banks. None of it to be recovered! MAGA will be left with their jaws on the ground. Billionaires will be trillionaires, protected on their hill, none of us will ever reach. The End Game can also be when we the people WAKE UP! WE ARE IN THE FIGHT Of OUR LIVES! … There is still not everyone out there! And everyone must be out there! VOTE them ALL out! There should be no debate about WTF they are doing! The lawlessness is in our face! Democracy will be only a memory if we do not fight for her. We are already sliding down that slope! So get out your pick axe, let’s work together and get out of this! We have a helluva hill to climb💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊thank you Dan Rather, your exceptional reporting of facts laid out once again🙏🏼💪🏼

A government asking for another $80 billion while refusing to explain what happened to the first $37.5 billion is not practicing “operational security.” It is running a war on the honor system. Eighteen Americans are dead, bases are damaged, stockpiles are shrinking, Iran still controls the Strait, and the Pentagon’s public strategy appears to be “please stop asking.” Congress did not authorize this war, reporters are being pushed out, and leakers are being hunted for telling taxpayers what their money is buying. Secrecy may protect troop movements. It should not protect incompetence, lies, or a president with no visible endgame.

"By law, the government must disclose when a service member is killed in action." - 😂 Like this administration cares anything about laws.

And Hegseth is a piece of work. Not only is he incapable of answering the Senate Appropriations Committee's questions but he acts like a disrespectful spoiled little brat. Of course we know this behavior is not unique to Hegseth as we have seen many other people do the same thing during this presidency.

So, so sick of all of this!

It is ironic how "the US" launches retaliatory strikes. They attacked Iran, then complained about getting hit in return. Then there's the ridiculous amount of money the two "bullies in chief" are spending on this war. We could have had healthcare for all Americans.

We were in Viet Nam for several years before many people realized what we were doing there. Remember “American contractors,” anyone?

We have met the enemy and he is Trump.

Thank you, Dan. You and your team are one of the few sources we can trust.

I say NO to any more money for the military until this STUPID WAR stops! And maybe not even then! They (he Kegsbreath) had plenty of money at the end of 2025 - enough to waste on crab for the troops, furniture etc. etc. if he needed money so badly why didn't he save it then? When he quits firing the experts and begs them to come back, maybe, but certainly NOT the trillions he is asking for. He is a FAILED DOD and stop trying to change the name! That is just another waste of money!

In my opinion the Pentagon doesn't need any more money regardless of this war. Requesting a 42% increase is absolutely ridiculous.

What about the Houthis?

Dan - you are always on-point and comprehensive in your reporting, and this one on Hegseth's corruption and autocracy and the true expense of this "forever war" is first among many equals. Thank you!

Does Pete Hegseth understand that he is the second most hated individual on Earth?

celeste k.'s avatar

Of course he doesn't.

Wait until trump sends our troops into Iran, with not enough missiles and air defense left to protect them. The carnage will be disastrous.

Then, at least in America, hegseth will be the #1 most hated individual in a very close tie with his trump.

Yes, and we just came out of a 20-year war, and when did we ever run low on any munitions? WW2? Vietnam? 20-year war in the Middle East? NAH. How many ways are there to skim off the top of billions of Defense funds? Hundreds.

I remember you and the trenches of vietnam.. on scene reporting help stop the war after that they didn't allow it anymore.
