Often on our Smile for a Saturday, we feature a performance or work of art in its own right. But today, we are featuring a story of an artist, the talented actress of stage and screen, Christine Baranski.
We have chosen this piece from CBS News’s esteemed program Sunday Morning for many reasons. First and foremost because it made us smile.
It is a story of a woman who has been at her craft for many decades, and is still giving the world performances every bit as memorable as those of her youth. For all of us who are aging, and let’s be clear that is ALL of us, it’s an inspiring tale. Age brings wisdom, perspective, and its own determination. It should be celebrated. Wouldn’t it be better if more of Hollywood - and American society - could respect and honor that truth?
Baranski’s story is also the story of immigrant families, heartache and loss, and a spirit of resilience.
On a personal note, the story was edited by our former colleague and longtime friend Steve Tyler. We hope you enjoy. And that it brings you a smile.
Dan and Elliott, this did make me smile! Baranski has been a favorite of mine for years, as I'm sure she's been for many. Sunday Morning is also a favorite, and this piece just confirms again why I hold it in such high esteem. Thanks for choosing to include it on Steady!!
Thank you for sharing. A lot of good stories in this World.
