Thank you for this, Mr. Rather. I am in Central Florida now listening to the wind howling and praying that a 76 year old oak tree in my yard stands tall through this storm. I watched the governor of this state give a pittance of thanks to President Biden for his support after he complained yesterday about not getting a call. Meanwhile, FEMA had set up a huge command center at the Orange County Convention Center and were ready and waiting since the President had already given the authorization for what he knew Florida would need. I truly wish that those who deny climate change would see the light after this latest catastrophic storm, but I know in my heart that will not be the case. My heart aches for the devastation that I know waits in Sanibel, Captiva and Ft. Myers-one of this native Floridians favorite areas of this State. I’ve spent many summers fishing at Blind Pass and collecting shells along Sanibel’s beaches. It is going to take a long time to recover and I am truly thankful for the many people who are waiting for the storm to pass to help us begin the recovery.

The name Ian for this storm cuts me deeply as that is the name of my son who passed away in August! He was very concerned about climate change, I miss him terribly!
