Since my youth the most iconic news program ever with the best people. Trump has ruined the world. All these journalists have to bud up and create something new.
I have always been a loyal fan of 60 Minutes and rarely missed Sunday Morning. I've stopped watching 60 Minutes due to its politization. I was truly dismayed yesterday by Rita Braver's interview with Jill Biden! She was clearly pushing on the MAGA agenda about how daft Joe Biden was in office. First that is all behind us, and Braver should have concentrated on the lunatic currently in office. I have watched my last Sunday Morning show. 😣
In 2010, CBS refused a story about corrupt judges and prosecutors because the man persecuted refused to hire a lawyer. Seymour Hersh, speaking to this man on the phone in 2010, refused the story as well, claiming he only did national news, seeing this story as minor. NBC, ABC, FOX, NY Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Washington Post (to include Woodward & Bernstein), and others all refused to even mention the story. Why? Because their lawyers didn't want justice without a lawyer making money, so that the public would become dependent on lawyers.
In 2011, SCOTUS refused petition of certiorari, even though the man proved that "exhausting state remedies" prior to 14th Amendment relief was not constitutional. The man also proved that judicial review was an implied power if and only if the opinion was symmetric with respect to the US Constitution. John Roberts, Sam Alito, Antonin Scalia, Ruth Ginsburg, and Sonya Sotomayor were all upset this man knew more about substantive due process than they did, and that a PhD would get credit for this, not a lawyer. They denied certiorari again, even though this man was being held illegally in prison by 2013, thinking that the systemic abuse would coerce the man to hire a lawyer. It did not.
Dan, you won't print the story either. It resulted in Microsoft Corp v US (2016), where Ginsburg was going to repeat verbatim everything this man said years earlier, but this time a Jewish lawyer would get credit (the man who argued the case in front of SCOTUS). It also resulted in Van Buren v US (2021), where Amy Barrett inadvertently plagiarized what the man had said years earlier, but was not informed of this fact by John Roberts et al, and SCOTUS had deleted the record of what this man had submitted. The man was former NSA, had taken a class from Jim Flyzik at UMUC, the latter had recently been promoted to head of computer/internet security for the US Treasury Department. SCOTUS knew nothing about computer or internet security and wanted a lawyer to get credit, mostly so that SCOTUS could save face to the public as knowledgeable. They let a man rot in prison for 3 years, with the judge lacking all personal jurisdiction (and no crime committed), just to "save face".
Dan, you pretend to be unbiased, but you don't print all the news that is fit to print, and neither did the NY Times or CBS' 60 Minutes. Instead, 60 Minutes had devolved into the kind of hypocrisy and showmanship that was predicted in the 1976 movie NETWORK.
Hypocrites in the media made Trump into Godzilla. He was nothing prior to the hypocrisy of the media, and if the media ever stops being self-righteous, Trump will become nothing again.
CBS - Columbia Broadcasting System - with the eye! Now, still CBS - Crafting Bull S.... trying to tell us what we see with our own eyes is not really true! How sad! I find I am getting more crass in my thoughts and comments. I didn't watch 60 Minutes tonight - the first time I've ever done that!
I was 12 years old when 60 Minutes started in 1968 and grew up watching it. 60 Minutes was the "cornerstone" of the news with such dynamic, honest, trustworthy and professional reporters' investigations with Andy Rooney s comments at the end of each show.
I remember when you, Dan, were involved with an on-air scuffle with security at the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago and Walter Cronkite commenting something about a "bunch of thugs" and Mayor Daley having Mike Wallace arrested at the convention also.
So many great reporters have worked for 60 Minutes, such a shame that it's allowed to fall so badly at the whim of DJT, the Ellisons and Weiss...
Straight out of the hitler playbook - Hitler controlled the media by establishing the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, led by Joseph Goebbels. They eliminated press freedom, mandated pro-Nazi content, and banned dissenting views. -"When the Nazis came to power in 1933, the German constitution guaranteed freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Through decrees and laws, the Nazis abolished these civil rights and destroyed German democracy. Starting in 1934, it was illegal to criticize the Nazi government. Even telling a joke about Hitler was considered treachery. People in Nazi Germany could not say or write whatever they wanted. "
Examples of censorship under the Nazis included:
closing down or taking over anti-Nazi newspapers;
controlling what news appeared in newspapers, on the radio, and in newsreels;
banning and burning books that the Nazis categorized as un-German; and
controlling what soldiers wrote home during World War II. During the first weeks of 1933, the Nazi regime deployed the radio, press, and newsreels to stoke fears of a pending “Communist uprising,” then channeled popular anxieties into political measures that eradicated civil liberties and democracy. SA (Storm Troopers) and members of the Nazi elite paramilitary formation, the SS, took to the streets to brutalize or arrest political opponents and incarcerate them in hastily established detention centers and concentration camps.
During elections and party anniversaries, massive color posters featuring Hitler's face alongside vague, patriotic slogans were plastered on building walls, billboard columns, and public spaces.
Pretty much sounds like what trump is doing. Hitler is his idol!
Well put. My hat's of to you, good sir knight. A hail and hearty godless heather's "AMEN!" to all you said, Brother Dan. Testify! Testify! All is not lost so long as good and decent folk recognize the peril we are in and gird their loins for the battle to save democracy in these U.S. of A.
I can’t WAIT until they discard Bari Weiss, like used Kleenex! They do this to EVERYONE, once they’re no longer useful! It pains me to see the demise of 60 Minutes, once the epitome of journalism! 🤬😞
60 minutes is now a state media run show. They were always the beacon of light during challenging times and eager to
ask the tough questions of corrupt leaders. Now under the Trump regime, another journalistic voice is silenced. I know all these correspondents will find a platform to continue speaking Truth to Power.
Boycott CBS

I have several people that I trust. You, Heather Cox Richardson and Aaron Parnas. Stay Steady, Dan and Team. This can't last forever (hopefully).

Thank you Mr. Rather for your honesty in reporting. You are still one of the best!
Again, Dan, damn well said!
Once again, I yell out into the void: WHEN IS LEADERSHIP GOING TO DO ANYTHING??

"Happy birthday, Sammy. Get well soon."
