Dan Rather tried to bring down Bush 41 on live air & CBS has to pay the then VP a settlement when Dan was inaccurate. On 60 Minutes, Dan Rather went after Bush 43 war record & supposedly getting his dad to get him out of overseas action. Bush 41 Library released letter from 41 to Pres. LB Johnson asking his son be placed in active combat. LBJ replied & said no for various reasons. Dan also defamed Bush 43 days of service in Texas, & other State National Guard divisions. Bush 43 wasn't 11 weeks short, on false information,, broadcast by Dan in a 60 Minutes piece. Bush 43 took a leave of absence & completed his 11 weeks owing plus 5 weeks over. He had his entire service record released. Dan Rather was tossed out as CBS Evening News anchor 1 year short of his stated goal of 25 years in the job as punishment. He was allowed to finish CBS 60 Minutes contract but then had lawsuits against CBS for wrongful dismissal. Dan Rather tried to rig the 2004 US Presidential election for Democrat John Kerry, that is a fact, Dan is a disgrace.
Dear Mr Poopmans, I think you are out of place, rude and clearly jealous (who ever heard of Rory's newsletter). Good Advise: Spend more time honing your work, less trolling Dan Rather.
Stephen will be a comeback! He will return to the show again once Taco’s term will be expired or will be removed or will be impeached. Stephen had a right to speak out. Taco didn’t like that. Too bad for him. Taco should learn how to laugh about the jokes. He appears to not understand the jokes at all. I am very proud of Stephen!! I can’t wait that he will be a comeback!!
His new breakaway show on Monroe Public Access didn't have the same fancy writing and glitzy graphics, but it's transitional. Stephen finds humor in our ordinariness. I grieve losing him and resent Skydance, Paramount, Paramount+ (plus what? we'll see), and CBS . This is a fascist attack on humor. Fascists only laugh when someone is being hurt. Perhaps Stephen can run for Lindsay Graham's seat, or, better yet, the presidency.
The Colbert Show could not have had a more perfect last episode - and it's not the end. All the stellar guests highlighted America's glorious contributions to culture. Even the Fab Paul McCartney, although British, was part of a phenomenon created on America's world stage. The significance of creativity, our country's history of positive and powerful communication was on full display courtesy of Stephen Colbert and company. Free speech will win over thin-skinned tyranny. Applause for Colbert's triumphant "exit" and for his continued success.
I think of the CBS I knew prior to 2016. They have become the propaganda network for fascism is infuriating. I think of the men and women who have spent careers investigating and reporting factual news, sometimes at the risk of their own lives and safety. CBS is now nothing but a fascist propaganda machine for the worst regime to ever hold the three branches of government. Trashing the wonderful Stephen Colbert is just the tip of their festering iceberg.
Forty seven will be busy trying to silence all his critics, as they are growing in numbers daily. Just think if he put all that effort into helping America be really great again!
He doesn't care about "all Americans", just his rich fat ass self, family who are in cohoots with him and the other billionaires. Seems to be they can never have "enough" money.
Dan, What a finale. I can't help but wonder what David Lettermans thoughts were after he heard CBS lame excuse for canceling Colbert?
Fools abound, what are the going to do when tRump wants another bribe? Their loss, I'm sure Stephen will go on and he did a cable show in Michigan the next nite? Day ? He got a standing offer from Meidas touch network and the Meidas mighty.
tRump can glote all he wants he didn't get rid of Colbert he just unleashed him.
I feel such a mixture of sad and glad. I love how he maximized every moment through the end. Will this be the first of more shows to be kicked off? What will be left of the late-night genre? I’m thankful for this piece highlighting something valuable.
I already miss Stephen!!! I hope he finds a public voice soon ... we NEED him!
Such a shame😢😢

Dan, so sad to see what CBS has become since the crook took office.
That final show must driven the convicted felon bonkers.
Cannot wait until Stephen Colbert's return to the airwaves and see the crook's reaction to that.
Stephen was on a public TV station the next night!!!!!!!! How cool is that...
I cancelled my cable TV years ago.........best move ever.
You Tube and Substack are all that is needed.
NO C Bull Shit!!
When they start silencing comedians, we’re in very deep trouble.
Colbert has always been a class act. He’ll land on his feet.
Captain befuddled-pants has taken yet another thing that was good and destroyed it.

It was glorious and made it easier to remain steady.

Love it...such a classy and jubilant exit!!
