One of the most amazing things about the human voice is it is a musical instrument that you can take anywhere… including a stairwell, where the acoustics are apparently pretty darn good.
We came across this video from the quartet the Kings Return a while back, and whenever we are in need of a smile, we return to this pitch-perfect blending of voices for warmth and inspiration. It is a version of the hymn Ubi Caritas. The music is courtesy of the contemporary Norwegian composer, Ola Gjeilo, who summons forth the style of Gregorian chants. In other words, it’s a blending of musical expression centuries in the making - another reminder that music is timeless, universal, and transporting.
We hope you enjoy, and that it brings a smile to your Saturday.
Wow it's gave me goose bumps. It made my whole soul feel good.
Just fabulous. Loved this performance of Ubi Caritas. I have sung in our church choir for over 40 years, including solo and duet pieces. It has been challenging during COVID to record and email our contribution to 4 part harmony pieces without standing together as a choir. It was so obvious to me seeing this video how much we need body language, breathing signals and facial expressions to sing as a group. These elements connect us and greatly add to the dynamics and the beautiful harmony these gentlemen have demonstrated. Thanks again Steady team.
